NORTHREACH PROJECT UPDATE #5 –

AUGUST 2017

The NorthReach Project Group met again on this week to discuss progress with regard to the development.

It was reported that we had completed six applications for funding grants from various organisations with more to follow. This is to bridge the gap between the funds resulting from the sale of the Waterloo site and the estimated build costs. The team also felt it would be worthwhile to have some fundraising events in aid of the project so look out for further details on these over the coming weeks.

The DAC (Diocesan Advisory Committee) will meet again during September and will be considering our outline plans. We hope to hear back from them shortly afterwards.

Communications is becoming an increasing area of focus as we endeavour to keep the whole community, as well as the Church congregation, informed of our progress. Articles have already appeared in the August issue of the Broadstone Link magazine and also in the September issue of the Dorset Life magazine so look out for these.

It was decided that we should hold a Community Consultation Day for all local residents, congregation and other interested parties on Saturday 23rd September. Copies of the latest architects’ drawings will be available for this. Please look out for more details on the timings for the day.

Whilst the Team get down into the detail, we are making sure that we don’t lose sightof the original vision for the project - to reach out to the community as a whole in order than we, as a Church, can grow. Without this development, and also with the increasing age of our existing congregation; we run the risk of becoming isolated from the younger members of our community and we won’t have the resources or the capability to reach out in years to come. So even though we don’t have all of the funding and don’t yet have fully formed ideas on how the area will be used or staffed, the vision remains strong and centred in Jesus our Lord. We all need to work together to fulfil this vision.

Please remember that prayers for the project are said every Saturday morning at 8.30am in Church. Please also keep the Project Team in your regular prayers.
