stands Francis Howell High School, home of the Vikings. As the oldest school in the district, our school offers an exciting combination of hallowed traditions blended with modern educational technology. Residents are in a variety of occupations: professionals, white-collar workers, skilled and semi-skilled workers.

Faculty Profile and Enrollment Data

Enrollment for Francis Howell High School for the 2014-2015 is 1959 students. It consists of grades 9-12 with a senior class of approximately 433 students. There are 120 certified teachers; approximately 80% have earned at least a Master’s degree. Six teachers have their National Board Certification. The student-teacher ratio is 28:1. There are seven counselors with a counselor ratio of 280:1.

Curriculum

Francis Howell High School offers a wide variety of courses in order to challenge each student to achieve his/her potential. Over 170 courses are offered, some on different ability levels. Placement into levels is determined by proficiency test scores, department chair recommendations, and previous academic performance. Classes are approximately 50 minutes in length, five days a week, 175 days a year. Honor levels are offered in all core academic subjects and foreign language beyond level two. Many courses are offered for advanced credit and/or advanced placement.

Accreditation

Francis Howell High School is rated AAA by the Missouri Department of Education.

Advanced Placement Program

There are twenty-four Advanced Placement courses offered to students. Approximately thirty-five percent of the senior class took at least one Advanced Placement Exam. Seventy-one percent of tests scored at least a three or better. Francis Howell High School had 87 AP Scholars. Seventeen AP Scholars were recognized with Honors while twenty-six received with Distinction and 5 National AP Scholars were named.
