Minority Teacher Loan Program Reminders:

·  The Minority Teacher Loan flyer is available on the HEAB website.

·  Please use the nomination roster, available on the HEAB website, to nominate loan recipients.

·  Loan recipients may receive a maximum of $2,500 per academic year and a lifetime maximum of $5,000.

·  HEAB must receive the original signed loan agreement and data sheet BEFORE funds will be disbursed.

·  Distributions not awarded by February 1, 2016 will be re-distributed.

·  All Wisconsin Colleges and Universities with teacher certification programs are encouraged to participate in the Minority Teacher Loan program. If your school did not receive a distribution or you would like to nominate more students than your current distribution allows, please contact HEAB to see if additional funds are available.

Loan Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible to receive a Minority Teacher Loan, a student must:

ü  Be a member of a minority population: African American, American Indian, Hispanic, or Laotian, Cambodian or Vietnamese who was admitted to the United States after December 31, 1975 (or whose ancestor was) or who is a citizen of Laos, Vietnam or Cambodia.

ü  Be a junior or senior undergraduate student or a graduate student enrolled, at least half-time, in a Teacher Certification program. And, not currently possess a Wisconsin teacher’s license.

ü  Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale.

ü  Be a Wisconsin resident, a U.S. citizen (or a permanent resident alien), and registered with the Selective Service (if applicable).
