CONTRACT AND COVENANT OF MEMBERSHIP

The (Insert Chapter) Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity International

We, the members of ______Chapter at ______(University), do solemnly promise and reaffirm our membership to Sigma Pi Fraternity, International. We will undertake to serve the Chapter faithfully for the ______Semester of two thousand and ______.

I will give proper attention to the interests of Sigma Pi.

I agree to attend all regular chapter meetings. I further agree to attend all recruitment events unless I have an approved excused absence. The sage and/or fourth counselor must be given a prior notice (not day of) and approved in order to count as excused.

I will regard the Fraternity with spirit of sincerity and respect and give earnest consideration to its teachings and ideals.

I agree to hold the fraternity in high regards, and as such, I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects a positive representation of the teachings and the creed of Sigma Pi. If I fail to represent the fraternity in a way that aligns with the respect that I have for the fraternity, I agree to be tried in a judicial hearing as prescribed by the bylaws of the chapter.

I promise to meet financial obligations promptly and fully.

I agree to pay all dues and half of insurance for the semester, in addition to any fines assessed. Should I be unable to pay this amount by the second fraternity meeting of the semester, I agree to meet with the third counselor to sign up for a payment plan before the second meeting of the semester. Should I fail to meet the financial obligations of the fraternity, I understand that the fraternity will suspend and then expel me in accordance with bylaw four (4) of the Grand Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity International.

I will cheerfully perform tasks that may be assigned for the good of the Fraternity.

I agree to attend all scheduled fundraising events. I understand that failure to attend these events can and will result in fines or suspension.

At all times, I will be a gentleman and use moderation in all things.

I agree to encourage chivalry and to refrain from excessive drinking. Should I do something to jeopardize myself or this chapter with my lack of restraint; I understand that I am eligible to be put on probation/suspension leading to expulsion.

I will strive at all times to cooperate for the good of the Fraternity.

I agree to defend the name of Sigma Pi even at the temporary expense of some personal prestige, if such a sacrifice be necessary; I will work for it until I know fatigue; and I will be ever loyal and true in acknowledgment of the trust vested in me by my associates in the Fraternity. I will not discuss fraternity matters of a confidential, personal, or secret in nature among non-members. I will never shun an opportunity to give my best efforts toward advancing its ideals and good teaching. I will also know that anything voted upon and approved in meeting is mandatory and I will contribute willingly my time, thought, energy and funds, within reason, toward the advancement of the Fraternity.

I will work diligently to maintain good scholarship.

I agree to maintain a 2.5 semester and cumulative grade point average. If I fail to do so, I will adhere to the punishments and regulations in the scholarship section of the bylaws. And if I continually fail to meet the academic obligations of the chapter, I understand that I will be suspended/expelled from the chapter.

I will participate in worthy college activities.

I will join/continue membership in at least one University Organization other than Sigma Pi.

I will profit by association with men in a spirit of fraternalism.

I agree to attend all of the semester’s brotherhood events. If I cannot attend I will give notice to the 4th counselor at least 12 hours in advance.

I will always be an exemplary Sigma Pi and Citizen.

I agree to complete all voted upon community service and fundraising hours/events. I further understand that failure to complete all fundraising events voted upon will result in a fine of what I could have earned.

In addition to the above, I agree to follow the constitution and bylaws of both our local and national organizations.
