Responsibilities of Mentor:

Initial each responsibility that you commit to carrying out

___ Assist in the development of the Scholar’s research plan, research activities, and list of professional development goals associated with the CFAR Adelante mentored research project

___ Assist in developing at least one SMAART (specific, measurable, ambitious but achievable, relevant, and time limited) outcome objective for each professional development goal, for use in periodically evaluating progress in achieving that goal during the Research Preparation and/or Implementation Periods

___ Collaborate in developing a list of mentoring, education, and/or training activities that will take place during the CFAR Adelante Research Preparation Period

___ Collaborate in developing a list of mentoring, education, and/or training activities that will take place during the CFAR Adelante Research Implementation Period

___ Assist in helping Scholar arrange for engaging in mentoring, education, and/or training activities, as requested

___ Provide assessment and feedback regarding progress in completing research, mentoring, education, and/or training activities

___ Assist in modifying research strategies and/or educational goals, outcome objectives, and/or professional development activities as needed over the course of the CFAR Adelante project period

___ Assist in writing and submitting at least one publication and at least one NIH grant application following completion of the mentored research project

___ Provide emotional support and advocacy

___ Actively address any problems with mentorship relationship

___ Draft research plan and professional development goals; work with Mentor to finalize

___ Draft at least one SMAART (specific, measurable, ambitious but achievable, relevant, and time limited) outcome objective for each professional development goal, for Mentor’s use in periodically evaluating progress in achieving that goal

___ Collaborate in developing a list of mentoring, education, and/or training activities that will take place during the CFAR Adelante Research Preparation Period.

___ Collaborate in developing a list of mentoring, education, and/or training activities that will take place during the CFAR Adelante Research Implementation Period

___ Submit annual progress reports and evaluations to the CFAR mentor and CFAR Adelante project coordinator.

___ Actively engage in all mentoring, education, and training activities

___ In collaboration with Mentors, modify research strategies and/or educational goals, outcome objectives, and/or professional development activities as needed over the course of the CFAR Adelante project period

___ Take the lead on writing and submitting at least one publication and at least one NIH grant application following the completion of the mentored research project
