Cilento in bloom

Trip-stay in Cilento, a little-known territory, located on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Salerno in 1998 it was elected a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It’s very rich in natural beauty and rare species of flora it houses more than 70 species of wild orchids and 90 per cent of Italian medicinal herbs, as well as olive groves, ancient villages, archaeological sites, beaches and wonderful streams in which you can bathe or swim.

1 Day: Arrival at the Naples airport and transfer to visit the Pertosa Caves, lunch at the farmhouse La Fonte in San Giovanni in Fonte in Padula, with a tour at the PaleoChristian Baptistery of the 4th century. Then arrival at the Locanda San Fantino, in San Giovanni a Piro in which we will lodge throughout your stay. The property consists of 5 hectares around the farm and a large country house, converted into a guest house. Tour of the medieval village, then dinner with a menu of all farm products.

Day 2: Walk in the property and lesson on medicinal herbs on field, with the owner of the Locanda San Fantino. Lunch with oil tasting and other farm products, then walk in the countryside above the cliffs overlooking the sea, in search of rare Primula palinuri, orchids and other wild species. We will visit the house-museum of the painter Jose Ortega, in Bosco, a little village of San Giovanni a Piro, and have dinner at the Restaurant of the village.

Day 3: A boat trip on the coast of Masseta and to the famous Cala degli Infreschi, elected the most beautiful beach of Italy in 2014. Picnic on the beach and return to Locanda San Fantino to have dinner with a seafood menu, the chef's specialty.

Day 4: Walk along the beautiful river Bussento with possibility to swim in its turquoise waters. Lunch at Osteria Tancredi of Caselle in Pittari that offers more than 30 very creative appetizers made with vegetables and local products. Tour to the top of Mount Cervati (1899 m upon the sea level) through the old beech woods and medows where wild horses and cows live. More than 170 species of wild orchids grow in this area. Then dinner on the waterfront of Scario, one of the most picturesque seaside villages of Italy.

Day 5: Walk on the beach of Palinuro, with possibility to swim, then through the gorge of Mingardo, a brief tour of the abandoned village of San Severino. Lunch at Barlotti Dairy near Paestum, with tasting of all buffalo products, from the mozzarella to the ice cream. Afterwards, a tour of the archaeological site of Paestum, then return to Locanda San Fantino , dinner in the pizzeria of the village.

Day 6: Visit of the village of Roccagloriosa, its museum and Lucano Archaeological Site. Lunch in the village. Return to the Locanda and in the afternoon cooking school; dinner at the Locanda with the accompaniment of local musicians.

Day 7: Visit to the Certosa of Padula and then transfer to Naples Airport and departure.
