Digital Art Competition
CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) is seeking student artists to submit working concepts for original digital artwork to be permanently installed in the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Phase 1: The competition will begin with the selection of a concept for a digital work of art from three artists. Each artist will be awarded $250.00after their work is selected.
Phase 2: Mock-up Submission. Each selected artist will present a mock-up of the projected final work. The mock-up must accurately represent the final piece. One artist will be selected and commissioned to complete a final work.
Phase 3: Submission of Final Work and commission award of $1000.00. Commissioned work will become the property of Northwest Missouri State University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all currently enrolled Northwest Missouri State University students.
MEDIUM:
Any digitally produced original work will be accepted, including but not limited to digital photography, digital-print, video installation, and computer animation. Digital reproductions of other mediums will not be accepted. The Jury committee reserves the right to determine if the medium meets the competition’s digital requirements.
DEADLINES:
Phase 1 – October 15,2009
Phase 2 – January 15, 2010
Phase 3 – May 31, 2010
AWARDS:
Three $250.00 concept awards
One $1000.00 commission award
MATERIALS:
The cost of all material used to construct the work is the responsibility of the artist including electronic equipment required for permanent installation.
JURY SELECTION COMMITTEE:
The Jury Selection Committee will be comprised of a member of the University Board of Regents, Dr. Charles McAdams, Dean of Arts and Science, Dr. Thomas Billesbach, Dean of the Booth College of BPS,a CIE Tenant, and Philip Laber, Professor of Art.
CONCEPT SUBMISSION:
Concept Submissions must include (1) completed entry form, (2) a written statement describing the visual and conceptual nature of the work, (3) a brief artist’s statement, and (4) support materials selected from sketches, 35mm slides, jpeg images, 5”x7” photographs, short video clips, or another appropriate form of representation. Note: quality support materials are important for the jury to determine the quality of the concept. Clearly identify each document with your name.

NOTIFICATION:
Artists will be notified of accepted and rejected submissions by email no later than November 1, 2009.
DELIVERY OF COMMISSIONED WORK:
Commissioned work will be delivered to the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Any shipping and insurance expenses to this site are the artists’ responsibility.
