April 4th, 2014
Dear Parents,
I have just spent an amazing two days at The Holy Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham with Year Four. Miss Daly, Mrs. Spence and I enjoyed their company enormously and they were outstanding ambassadors for our school.
We are keen to become more involved with this wonderful and spiritual place and will have more news for you on this subject shortly.
Wonderful RE News!
I am delighted to announce that St. Saviour’s School is now the proud holder of a Gold RE Quality Mark! We are so proud. The Assessor was amazed at how marvellous our school was and praised in particular Miss McCombe’s organisation and RE leadership (she is fantastic!) as well as the fantastic work/displays in the classrooms and the extensive RE and Faith knowledge of all the children but especially the RE Ambassadors (Year 1: Alice Johnston and Jones Antley, Year 2: Nikhil Williams and Ruby Agar, Year 3: Samara Benjamin, Dylan Ireland and Mia McGee, Year 4: Oliver Agar and Ariadne Aroukatos, Year 5: Aaryan Pickering Kumar, Pippin Allright and Jason Man, Year 6: Marquel Weekes-Felix and Imogen Lee).
iPads in School
The 16 iPads that the PTA purchased for the children have been extremely well used in the very short time that we have had them. The children adore using them and have learned many new skills. So much so that we have had to purchase iPad Airs for all staff to use (and learn with the children!) which are also proving to be very successful. We are all very hi-tech with lots of happy children and staff!

Spring Term Parent Teacher Meetings – Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th April
We are all looking forward to discussing your child’s progress next week and celebrating the achievements they have made so far this year. I am afraid, however, that I have sent out the wrong message regarding the Progress Reports to you over recent weeks. You will recall that the Teachers’ Union, The NUT, are in dispute with the Government and have been taking long term industrial action.
At St. Saviour’s, this means that the progress reports are not sent out before the Parent Teacher meetings. This is regrettable but, as these meetings are held in the afternoon, we are at least pleased that these can go ahead. Some schools that still hold such meetings in the evenings, have not been able to hold these for many months. A Progress Report will be given to you at the start of your meeting and a copy of the minutes from the Autumn term will be on hand to compare “then and now”. Apologies for any confusion caused.
Easter Service at St. Saviour’s – Next Friday 11th April at 1:15 p.m.
We will be celebrating our Easter Service next Friday at St. Saviour’s Church starting at 1:15 p.m. All children will be taking part (including Nursery) and children need to be picked up from church at 2:00 p.m. This is also the beginning of the Easter holidays so school will be closed until the beginning of the Summer term on Monday 28th April.
Charity Coffee Morning on Tuesday 29th April
We will be holding our next Charity Coffee morning on the first Tuesday after the Easter holidays – the 29th April. The charity that we will be supporting will be Children with Cancer. I am also delighted to announce that the City Council’s School Travel Plan Officer, Carla Lowe, will also be coming along to answer any queries you may have about travelling to and from school.
This will also be the second opportunity for you to meet our hard working Governors. This time, they will be wearing badges to differentiate them from other adults present so please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
There will be a Normal Non-Uniform Day next Thursday 10th April - £1 for PTA funds.
