Notes on Applying for a Job with us

You should have copies of each of the following:

  1. A Job Description and Person Specification
  2. An Application Form

Our organisations equal opportunities and ex-offenders policies are also available. Centre 33 strived to be an equal opportunities employer.

Please read all the documents you have been sent carefully.

The Job Description explains what tasks and responsibilities the position has, and the Person Specification lists the key qualities that we believe will be necessary for the post-holder to have in order to be able to undertake the tasks.

Filling in the Application

  1. Check the job description and person specification very carefully.
  2. Even if some of the tasks would be new to you, we want to know that you have the ability to do the job, so please give us examples that you think will persuade us.
  3. Structure your writing around the person specification (the most important part) so that you clearly demonstrate the skills, knowledge and qualities that we are looking for. Please note that if you cannot describe your ability to meet the essential criteria for the role, you are very unlikely to be short-listed, so please address each item of the person specification.
  4. Write clearly and concisely.
  5. Type your application if possible
  6. Do Not send a CV – these will be thrown away.
  7. Do Not exceed three sides.
  8. Do Not miss the application deadline.

Job-sharing

Centre 33 strives to be an equal opportunities employer and therefore considers carefully any job-share applications. If you are considering putting in an application for a job-share, please remember:

  1. The onus is on you to demonstrate how you and a job-share partner could achieve the same or better outcomes in the role than a single candidate.
  2. It will strengthen your application if you have considered how job-share might be organised for this role.

What happens next

We will read all the applications and measure them against the Person Specification and will short list candidates for an interview. We will take into account relevant experience and knowledge. We will consider your presentation, and level of written skill.

If you have been unsuccessful, we will write to let you know.

We will begin following up references at this stage, so please indicate in the relevant section of the application form if you don’t want us to talk to a referee until you’ve been offered the job.

The Selection Process

We will assess each candidate’s performance at the interview across a range of measures and give each a score. These will be reviewed and discussed and any uncertainty resolved.

We will speak to the successful candidate, as soon as we can, and then confirm the offer in writing.

The offer will of course be subject to references and CRB check proving satisfactory.

If you haven’t been successful, we will be happy to give you some feedback on your performance if you request it.
