Student & Family Resource Center~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

District/Community Vision / Ken Geisick introduced Orland Unified School District’s vision to all members present. He also discussed the Student & Family Resource Center.
Student & Family Resource Center Update / Maia Illa gave an update on OUSD’s Student & Family Resource Center.
Introductions / Members present introduced themselves. These questions were asked/answered:
  • Who are you?
  • What is your role?
  • Within your role, how can you support children and families?

Group Activity / A group activity was done. Members were asked to join a group and pick a station. They were then asked to respond to the question on the blank poster. Once done, they took a tour to the other stations (8 total). When they were back at their station they responded to the next question (4 total) and went around the room to the other stations. Same process was repeated for the next 2 questions. The 4 questions asked were:
  • What are the strengths of our schools, programs, and community?
  • What are ways our schools, families, and community are working together effectively?
  • What are the benefits when schools, families, and communities work together?
  • What can we do differently to work together more successfully?

Collaboration & Reflection / Neli & Maia walked around the room during the group activity taking notes on common themes/responses.
Closing Statement / The members were asked to describe in one word their experience or insight from this meeting.
It was agreed that we will have Collaborative meetings like this one on a monthly basis.
