III.ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
(July 2012 – Present) Assistant Vice Provost Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning & Director eCampus University of Connecticut(includes Interim status July 2012- May 2013) Created the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning(CETL) ( major re-organization and central integration of the Center for Continuing Studies and Institute for Teaching and Learning; developed strategic plan to implement Provost’s initiative for online learning and to more effectively support faculty development and adoption of flexible and active learning strategies across all modalities; collaborated with academic partners to develop 25 new graduate certificate and degree programs ( established strategic oversight and steering committees to ensure engagement and shared governance; grew summer and winter undergraduate enrollments and dramatically increased proportion of total enrollments offered online (summer from 15 to 50%; winter from 30 to 80%); provide thought leadership for faculty development programs including teaching enhancement plans, educational technology, teaching innovation (mini-grants and large course re-design), communities of practice, and teaching awards; participated in negotiations with AAUP related to intellectual property and summer compensation agreements; expanded Early College Experience program (12,000 registrations) and developed new pre-college summer program ( Responsible for program revenue of $25M, operating budget of $5M, and program staff of 50.
(
(April 2011-July 2012) Interim Director, Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) University of Connecticut: Unit level responsibility for programs with $16M in gross revenue and staff of 60. Programs included undergraduate credit programs for returning adult students (1000) at all six campuses; online programs, special academic and international programs and partnerships with UConn schools and colleges, non-credit programs.
(July 2006-July 2013) Director MPS Program University of Connecticut:Program level responsibility for four fields of study within the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) program [Human Resource Management (HRM), Humanitarian Services Administration (HSA), Homeland Security Leadership (HSL), and Occupational Safety and Health Management (OSHM)]. Implemented program and curriculum quality assessment processes, conducted program needs assessment for both online non-cohort fields of study (HSA, HRM) and cohort based blended format field of study (HSL), allocated faculty resources, coordinated scheduling of courses, managed and developedrelationships with full time and adjunct faculty, collaborated with UConn administrators, MPS oversight committee, and other key stakeholders, responsible for program budget and management of professional and support staff, and coordinated marketing and engagement strategies.
(July 2007-December 2009) Associate Director Center for Continuing Studies and Director Bachelor of General Studies (BGS)University of Connecticut: Responsible for CCS credit bearing programs, 1000 students (degree and non-degree), 25 direct reports including distance education staff and academic advisors, 5 full time and 25 adjunct faculty, and $7M in gross revenue. Streamlined and rationalized BGS curriculum consistent with DHE guidelines; Developed new Bachelor of Professional Studies degree program; Spearheaded efforts to enhance quality of online courses and online instruction (quality matters rubric and faculty development programs).
(July 2003-July 2005) Director MBA Program, Clarkson University: Provided overall leadership and strategic direction for full time AACSB accredited program, designed and implemented innovative orientation program, worked collaboratively with Deans, Directors, and other University administrators (President, Provost, VP’s), strengthened relationships with program faculty, oversaw growth in program revenues, responsible for program budget and management of professional and support staff, responsible for program evaluation and outcomes assessment, responsible for shaping program value proposition and brand image, implemented contemporary web-based marketing strategies, advanced creative engagement strategies for key stakeholders (prospective and current students, prospective employers), managed and nurtured international partnership with Reims School of Management (France), facilitated a strong learning culture and sense of community for students, staff, and faculty associated with the program.
(2000-2004) Co-Founder and Steering Committee Member, Educational Leadership Academy of Northern New York: Developed and facilitated annual Leadership Academy and professional seminar series for current and prospective educational administrators, and provided ongoing strategic direction for program director in the areas of program development, funding opportunities, and joint educational initiatives between Clarkson University School of Business and St. Lawrence University School of Education.
(1996-1998) Facilitator UMASS Center for Family Business, Seniors and Founders Group: Provided facilitation services on a bi-monthly basis for a group of local executives, who shared a common interest in issues related to the successful operation of their family business.
(1993-1995) Research Assistant: Research conducted with Dr. Jane Giacobbe-Miller involving the assessment of work team effectiveness in organizations, with Dr. Melissa Barringer investigating temporary/contract work in organizations, and with Dr. Bob Marx in the area of relapse prevention training.
(1991-1993) Assistant Coordinator for the UMASS Center for Student Businesses: Provided guidance, management, and training to undergraduate students involved in the management of ten student-initiated and controlled businesses on the UMASS campus (annual revenue $750K). Operation of the businesses (restaurants, grocery store, graphic design and copy store) followed principles of participatory and non-hierarchical management.
