Dear «PARENT»

Greetings from Mrs. Griffin’s seventh grade mathematics classroom at High Point Middle! We are now halfway through the current term and I am writing to inform you of«SFN» ‘s mathematics grade at this point in the term. Please be aware of a few things as you consider this grade. First, midterm grades are generally lower than the final grade. After I determine the midterm grades, I give students the chance to do a make-up quiz for any quiz on which they scored less than 80%. This is to give them a chance to master the material. Second, when I am calculating the final grades I decide on the number of homework assignments that will be dropped from consideration because I understand that students may occasionally forget a book, or have other commitments. I do not take time to do this before issuing midterm grades. Third, you should consider «SFN»’s grade in light of the class average which is «AMTGRD_». We are studying increasingly complex topics and performing near the class average does not necessarily mean that «SFN»is doing badly.

«SFN»’s midterm mathematics grade is«SMTGRD». «SFN» has failed to turn in «IASSIGN» assignments. Please remember that I remain after school to tutor students on Monday and Wednesday. You may also be eligible for tutoring services contracted by Guilford County Schools. Let me know if you would like to enroll«SFN» for these services. You can notify me via email, a note sent via «SFN» or call the school and leave a mail message for me (my mailbox number is 23). My email is .

Thank you for all your support. Remember, you can always reach me via email or voice mail and I will get back with you as soon as possible.

Regards,

Teresa D. Griffin
