A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Howard Ray Dawson.

WHEREAS, Howard Ray Dawson was a son of the Commonwealth, having been born in Owen County, the cherished son of Howard W. Dawson and Wildeen Smoot; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Owen County High School, Howard Ray Dawson retired from the Transportation Cabinet as a utility agent after 28 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Howard Ray Dawson was active in his community and a tireless advocate for the civic and economic progress of his beloved hometown. He served as Chairman of the Trustees at Thornhill Baptist Church, on the city Planning and Zoning Board, as Campaign Chair of the Franklin County Committee for Brereton Jones for Governor, and as Magistrate of the Third District for 21 years; and

WHEREAS, on December 6, 2013, Howard Ray Dawson departed this earth, leaving his family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, Howard Ray Dawson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary C. Dawson. He is survived by his sons, Stephen Dawson and his wife, Julie, and Randall Dawson; his sister, Dorothy Sutherland; his brother, Jerry Dawson; and his grandchildren, Lindsey, Seth, and Dustin Dawson;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The House of Representatives expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and community of Howard Ray Dawson.

âSection 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Howard Ray Dawson.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Derrick W. Graham for delivery.
