prime number
A number with exactly two different factors, 1 and the number itself. / Examples of prime numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
1 is not a prime number, because it only has 1 factor, itself.
composite number
A whole number with greater than two factors. / Examples of composite numbers are 4, 6, 8, and 9.

The rules which tell which operation to perform first when more than one operation is used.

- Multiply OR divide in order from left to right.

evaluating algebraic expressions

median
The number that marks the middle of an ordered set of data. / {4, 5, 6, 7, 8}
The median is 6 because it marks the middle value when the numbers are ordered from least to greatest.
mode
The mode is the value that occurs with greatest frequency in a set of data. / {1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 4}
The mode is 2 because it is the value that occurs most often.
range
The difference between the greatest and least values in a data set. / {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}
The range is 4 because 5 – 1 = 4.
