Job title:Health and Safety Manager – Job share 3 days per week. Fixed term 18 month post

Reports to:Head of Quality and Regulation

Location:Theale/London or can be home based (South of England)

Purpose:As part of the Quality and Regulation department, the post holders will provide Health and Safety (H&S) leadership for the organisation. They will ensure that H&S management systems are robust and effective. The job share partners will have one common job description and each partner must be prepared to undertake the full range of duties.

The post holders will proactively assist with the development and achievement of the team and the Organisational outcomes on the Dimensions' 5 year strategy.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Outcomes:

To act as the Organisations expert resource on all health and safetyissues

  • To champion the need to increase year on year improvements in driving down reportable accidents, and the management of near misses
  • Advise on all Health and Safety related strategies, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Provide H&S management reports as required
  • Establish strong relationships with colleagues and external companies to capture and share Best Practice and contribute to raising awareness, improving performance and transitioning to a “pro-active” safety culture.


Managing the H&S team and supporting H&S representatives

  • To manage a team of Health and Safety Advisers
  • Coordinate regular national Health and Safety representative’s meetings

Ensuring the effective management ofcompany insurance matters

  • Championing continuous improvement in the Organisations claims performance
  • Oversee and advise on day to day insurance issues
  • To line manage the Insurance claims administrator

In addition to the above a Health and Safety Manager is expected to:

  • Be prepared to work flexibly. Adhere to our policies, procedures and practice statements.
  • Be prepared to travel to any Dimensions group service or office location, including occasional over-night stays when required
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with our data protection policy and procedure
  • Keep appropriate records as required.
  • Develop professionally. This means that you are expected to get involved in meetings, work towards gaining qualifications about your work, attend training courses and be willing to learn new things and ways of working.
  • Work in a safe way at all times protecting the wellbeing of self and others
  • Act as a comprehensive support function to the Quality and Regulation departmentfor ad-hoc tasks and future organisational projects.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as required by the Head of Quality and Regulation.
