Journey Blue Media’s Video Highlights Best It Racing’s

Success Using Infinity ECU in Pirelli World Challenge

HAWTHORNE, CA—On the heels of a Rookie of the Year season in 2012 in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class, driver Andy Lee of the Best IT Racing team was looking to gain an advantage going into 2013. In its first season of racing, the Best IT team had performed well but had to overcome issues with its factory engine management that at times left them, literally, stuck on the side of the road. Combined with a lack of data needed to be able to make quick adjustments in the pits, he knew having the right ECU could catapult them to the top of the field in the following season.

Lee, an instructor at the legendary Bondurant Driving School in Phoenix, AZ and competitor in multiple arenas of racing, has been around long enough to develop some key connections in the Motorsports World. And by happenstance, he wandered by the AEM Performance Electronics booth at the 2012 PRI show where he ran into Paul St. Clair. St. Clair was formerly with Nissan Motorsports and had recently joined AEM in technical sales right on the heels of the company’s launch of its Infinity programmable ECU. Lee had raced Nissans in the past.

Fast forward to 2013 and both Best IT Racing Camaros were fitted with Infinity-8 ECUs, debuting them at Circuit of the Americas where Lee won the event and set the fastest lap, culminating the season with five poles, one win, two runner ups, two fastest laps and two races with the most laps led. This video provides an account from a racer’s perspective on what having the right ECU can do for a race team, and delivers a visual taste of the excitement that is Pirelli World Challenge racing from the talented creatives at Journey Blue Media. The Infinity ECU makes state-of-the-art ECU technology attainable to both professional teams and amateur racers. Built around a latest-generation 32 bit floating point 200MHz automotive processor and Real Time Operating System (RTOS), the Infinity is capable of processing 400 MIPS (millions of instructions per second). To our knowledge, the Infinity ECU currently has the fastest processing speed of any aftermarket Motorsports ECU available. This processing speed combined with a RTOS provides more accurate ignition timing for increased power, more responsiveness to truly custom tailor the driving experience to the driver, allows the Infinity to perform more computational features without a sacrifice in processing performance, and enables tuning of features and sub strategies without affecting other features and sub strategies. It allows you to do more, faster, in a more stable programming environment.
