Barb Day – Origami Lessons

Lesson Plan Ideas:

·  Fingerprint Images

·  Art History Project Ideas

·  Folded Cranes (Community Project)

Memory Project - Due: December 12

·  Emphasis on REALISM and making an image to serve as a memory for the child who receives it (consider using grid)

·  All portraits will be done on 11” x 14” Bristol (Sharee will provide). Black mats will be pre-cut to fit this size portrait. Portraits can be vertical OR horizontal.

·  Gallery will only hold 16 works – how do we want to handle this?

·  Exhibit dates – January 28 through February 26

·  RECEPTION – January 29 @ 4:00 p.m. at the Museum

·  This year I need all photos of students working on projects and portrait photos of students to be sent to me via email as a jpeg (do NOT put into a word document!)

·  Student letters are to be sent to me via email as a WORD document

·  All photos, letters and art should be complete and sent to me by December 12.

Hal Walker – Artist-In-Residence will give presentation

Youth Art Month Exhibit at Portsmouth Public Library – Due: Feb. 3

·  2 works from each school

·  Bookmarks – Need quality instead of quantity – Tagboard is good surface

·  Maximum size of 16” x 16” (please do not exceed!) – 3D is okay as well

·  Try to remember that I have to figure out a way to make things stand etc.

·  Exhibit dates – March 2 – 26

Visually Literate Exhibit – Due: March 27 @ ESC for judging

·  Exhibit dates – April 17 through May 15 (*Work may NOT be picked up until May 16!)

·  Reception – April 21 @ 5:30 at Museum (Awards Ceremony @ 6:00)

·  Please be aware of hanging options and if you are submitting framed work, put hooks and wire on them – also, some of the work was heavy and it caused mats to bend last year…consider that work has to be hung

·  Juror – We will ask Lane Raiser if he is available

·  Logo – New and based on a piece of student work

·  Categories – Same

·  Reception/prizes – Same as last year

·  Please be sure to turn in list of student work with description when work is turned in on day of judging AND be sure to put tags on back of work

·  I will need names and addresses for invitations again this year
