Science Laboratory Expectations
6th Grade (Tuesday)
Rules and Procedures:
- On lab days all you need is your lab handout and a pencil.
 - When you enter the lab you will put all belongings other than lab materials under the lab table.
 - Each lab day your “Do Now” will be to take a lab from the front table and have a pencil out. You will read over the procedure THREE TIMES. Check the chalkboard and Promethean board for any additional instructions.
 - Once everyone is seated we will begin to discuss the lab.
 - When the lab is finished follow any and all clean up procedures.
 - Your lab station must be cleaned up and dried off before you are allowed to leave.
 - The bell does not dismiss you. You will be dismissed once your lab station is checked.
 
Important rules to remember:
- Follow all directions and lab procedures at all times whether they are written or verbal.
 - Goggles should be worn at all times (even when working with just water).
 - The lab should be as quiet as possible, especially when directions are being given.
 - There is no running in the lab. You are only getting out of your seat when you are getting materials.
 - No food or drinks are permitted in the lab.
 - Always follow safety procedures when given.
 - Handle all lab equipment carefully and use equipment and tools properly.
 - If you hear 3…2…1…FREEZE, this mean STOP what you are doing, LOOK at the teacher, LISTEN for directions.
 - SAFETY is #1! If you misbehave or cannot follow directions you will not participate in labs.
 
Grading:
- Labs are worth 25% of your grade
 - Lab reports/conclusion questions must be completed for homework if not finished in the lab. You must answer all questions in complete sentences.
 - Late labs will lose 5 points each day and will not be accepted after the 5th late day.
