RECYCLING PROJECT
Term 3 Final Project Value: 40% of competency 1
In teams of 2 to 4, you will have a choice between 2 projects described below:
PROJECT #1: Recyclable Carnival Games
- Build a carnival game completely made out of recyclable materials. (see next page for a list of materials) 10 pts
o Examples are: ring toss, fishing game, planko, sand bean bag, Skee Ball game, etc.
- In a duo-tang: (15 pts)
· Design plan of your game (includes materials, force arrows if applies, dimensions)
· Description of how it was built
· Rules of your game
- You will be marked on your creativity! (10 pts)
PROJECT #2: Model of a space related phenomenon.
- Build a model of a space related phenomenon. (10 pts)
o Examples are: a planet, a constellation, an astronaut, a spaceship, rover, astronomical instrument, etc. (The more recyclable materials you have, the more points you gain.)
- In a duo-tang: (15 pts)
· Design plan of your game (includes materials, force arrows if applies, dimensions)
· Description of how it was built
· 5 interesting facts about your phenomenon
- You will be marked on your creativity! (10 pts)

Materials you can recycle:
**Styrofoam is not recyclable.
Always recycle the following paper and cardboard materials:
· paper (staples allowed) - paper towel rolls
· newspapers - juice cartons
· flyers, matte or glossy - milk cartons
· magazines, matte or glossy - paper bags
· envelopes - books
· cereal boxes - phonebooks
· frozen food boxes - egg cartons
· laundry detergent boxes - file folders
· shoe boxes
· corrugated cardboard
· cardboard boxes, always flattened and bundled with string
· toilet paper rolls
Always recycle the following glass materials:
· bottles (all shapes and colors, without or without label)
· jars (all shapes and colors, without or without label)
Always recycle the following metallic objects:
· cans
· soda cans
· lids
· coat hangers
· aluminium plates
· aluminium foil (unsoiled)
Always recycle the following plastic items:
· bottles previously containing non-toxic liquids (e.g., juice, milk, etc.)
· containers previously containing haircare and bodycare products
· containers previously containing soap, laundry detergent and other household detergents
· containers previously containing food (e.g., yogurt, margarine)
· lids
· toilet paper bags*
· paper towel bags*
· food packaging (unsoiled)*
