Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between gold price and stock market. The importance of this topic is caused by instability in the world economy and stock markets, and due to this instability, there is a growing interest in gold from investors and the current bull market of gold. Yes, it is not possible to state that gold’s value changes as a result of activity within the stock market and it is also not possible to state that the level of the stock market changes as a result of activity in the gold market. But we can say that gold reacts differently to factors that impact the stock market. In short, the events and conditions, which tend to result in a rising gold price, also tend to result in a falling stock market. Where high inflation, credit and debt crises, bank failures, currency crises, commodity price shocks and international tensions tend to negatively impact the stock market, gold has historically held its value, or even risen, during such conditions. It is important to point out that gold and stocks are not perfect counterweights to each other. There is plenty of trading days in which both the price of gold and the stock market have gone up. This can even turn into a trend that can last weeks, or even for a few months. However, the historical evidence is overwhelming. Over the long-term, gold and stocks tend to move in opposite directions. This has been born out in research done by the World Gold Council for decades which shows that there is indeed a negative long-term correlation between gold and stocks, as measured by all of the major stock indices, namely the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Standard & Poor’s 500, and the Wilshire 5000.Whether the stocks being compared to gold are large blue chips or small, aggressive growth companies, the correlation to gold is still negative over the long-term. For that reason, goldis an excellent portfolio diversifier for a portfolio consisting of stocks, whether the portfolio contains just a few blue chips or a broad array of a cross section of the entire stock market. Therefore, in addition to various other factors demand of gold has appreciated the value of gold price and many economic variables including gold price have effect on the stock market. In times of general economic and financial crisis, gold is a safe haven investment. When paper currencies are over-produced, gold rises in anticipation of future inflation. When bank credit is overproduced and society can no longer sustain elevatedDebt levels, gold rises in anticipation of deflation, stock market collapses, and bond failures.

Abstract

Haryana has transformed itself from a state only known for its agriculture production to a state known for well-rounded development in all sphere of field. The state’s growth and development trajectory has been progressive since its formation as an independent state in 1966. It has set an example for planned economic development and has emerged as one of the leading Indian states in terms of per capita income.

The urban share in Haryana’s total population has increased to more than 35% in the last few years and is projected to grow at an accelerated rate. As per the Census of 2011, Faridabad is the most urbanised district (79.44%) followed by Gurgaon (68.82%), Panchkula (54.87%), Panipat (45.47%) on account of industrial development, strategic location, administrative function and close proximity to National Capital Region (NCR).

Urbanisation today is a matter of great concern, the state government has realised this and proactive steps are being taken to transform existing cities for balanced growth. Strategies and implementation plans are being developed to leverage the smart urbanisation concept that requires the utilisation of technology, existing and planned infrastructure investments to provide a higher quality of living to residents, a positive investment climate for businesses and allowing the maximisation of resource utilisation. The recently announced 3 smart cities are expected to sustain rapid urbanisation and ever-increasing citizen’s requirements and demand of the advanced 21st century societies.

The present paper is conducted to study the district-wise trend of urbanisation in Haryana and reasons for rapidly increasing urbanisation. The paper also includes future urbanisation trend of Haryana and recommendations for sustaining rapid urbanisation across state.

Abstract

This paper makes an attempt to understand the trade relations of India and China with their respective importing countries in Textile Industry. The data for exports made by China and India are all collected from International Trade Centre for the year 2013 and the methodology used to analyse the trade relations is Trade Intensity Index (TII), which effectively is the ratio of actual trade by expected trade. The values of TII are highly skewed and hence natural logarithm is applied to make the data relevant for further statistical analysis, Z scores of logarithm (TII) have been obtained for cross country comparison. A negative value of Z score represents a weak positive trade relationship between two concerned countries whereas; a positive value of Z score represents strong positive trade relations between two concerned countries. The paper makes an inter country comparison, and determines how competitive India and China are in exporting textile products. The results show that United States of America, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Bangladesh & Germany are among the top importers of Indian textile products and India has better relationship with them than China has with these countries.

Abstract

India is a developing nation and need for higher education is very high because of various reasons. Higher education sector is expected to produce a good quality employable youth who are expected to work in various fields all over the world. In this paper an overview about the state of Higher Education in the country is presented. There is an acute shortage of temples of learning in the country. The quality in higher education needs to be revamped. Most of the universities / affiliated colleges lack far behind as for as quality is concerned. To maintain quality in education these universities must be funded liberally with a regulatory mechanism. And to act according to regulations there must be binding, and time frame within which the set target needs to be achieved. Also there is a need to change the mindset of people involved directly or indirectly in higher education. University Grants Commission brings out such regulation from time to time but we are either too sluggish in implementation or we don’t want to work. A judicious utilization of available infrastructure is required at present. Internationalization of higher education should be done prudently keeping in mind weaker section of the society.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to study how fusion of images helps in diagnosing in medical areas. This study provide the comparative and quantitative analysis of fusion techniques such as pixel-level, IHS, PCA, Multi-scale which includes pyramid and wavelet approach used in medical image processing with their pros and cons. Image fusion is a technique which combines two or more images of same scene to provide more accurate and detailed clinic information which plays an important role in medical sciences. This article describes a critical review on various fusion techniques describing their process to obtain fused image and type of disease that can be detected with fusion techniques with their respective medical images used for diagnosis.
