Please remember to sign in at the office if you come to visit during the school day.

If your child will be going home a different way than usual, please send a note to school.

Breakfast:

If your child is notsupposed to eat breakfast, please let us know. Many of the children eat breakfast at school.

Homework:

Homework will be sent home in the pocket marked “Homework/Notes.” The homework is due the next morning. Homework that is one day late/incomplete will have 20 points deducted. Homework that is 2 days late will receive a 0. The lowest daily grade will be dropped each 9 week period.

**Important – Please check your child’s homework papers each evening after they are finished. If there are errors, please have your child correct them.

Binders:

Binders will come home every day. Check behind the “Homework/Notes” for notes or homework to complete and return. These binders will also contain your child’s completed work and conduct sheet. On Fridays we will send home graded papers. The papers behind the tabs need to stay in their binders, but the papers in the “Keep at Home” pocket you can take out and keep at home. Please look over ALL papers with your child. Please remember to sign the conduct sheet over the weekend because we will check them every Monday and they will get a responsibility conduct mark if they are not signed.

**IMPORTANT – Please train your child to put their school papers, binders, and books into their backpack as soon as they are finished with them. Let’s teach them how to be responsible for their belongings and work this year!

Conduct:

Conduct sheets will go home everyday in their binders. It will be marked with your child’s misbehavior with a number that corresponds to the infractions. Late/incomplete homework will be marked with an X. Please talk with your child about his/her behavior if you see a mark. Please check the back of the sheet to see if there is any documentation of the offense. If we feel like you need to know exactly what happened, we will document on back.

Headings on Papers:

Correct headings are required on papers. This includes name AND number. 3 points will be deducted for partial headings and papers with no heading will have 5 points deducted.

Birthdays:

If you would like to bring a snack for your child’s birthday that will be fine, but you DO NOT have to bring anything. We will celebrate birthdays at the end of the day at 3:00. If you are having a birthday party, please do not send the invitations to school unless everyone is invited or if it is all the girls or all the boys. We do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings at school. Also, if your child does not bring the treats with them and YOU will be bringing them up later, they need to be dropped off at the office not brought to the classroom.

P.T.G.:

Please join the P.T.G. organization. If 100% of the 2nd grade parents join, we get an extra $20 to spend on the children and our classrooms. The P.T.G. has always been very generous to the school, teachers, and students of Windthorst. Please help support them!

Book Club Orders:

About once a month, a Book Club newsletter will be sent home from your child’s homeroom teacher. You do not have to order anything, but it is an inexpensive way to buy books for your child, birthday presents, and Christmas presents. If you send a check as your payment, please make it out to the book club, otherwise you can send cash or you can order on-line.

Progress Reports:

Progress reports will be sent out after the 4th week of the grading period. Report cards will be sent home after the 9th week of the grading period.
