GOVERNOR GENERAL’S ACADEMIC MEDAL
Governor General’s Academic Medal / This medal is awarded to the grade 12 graduate with the highest combined average based on all their grade 11 and 12 courses. Regardless of the stream or the subjects chosen, all student are eligible for consideration.A diploma package will be issued to graduates in the small gym after tonight’s ceremony. Final report cards will be mailed home.

Royal Canadian Legion, Manitoba & NW Ontario Command, District 7 Bursary / These $250 bursaries are awarded to students going on to a trade, technical school, college or university and are either ex-service members or are children or grandchildren of ex-service members.Royal Canadian Legion, Manitoba & NW Ontario Command, District 7 Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship / This $1000 scholarship is awarded to a graduate who plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Computer Science. The scholarship is given to an affiliated student with the highest marks in District 7.
Royal Canadian Legion, Manitoba & NW Ontario Command, District 7 Scholarship / This $450 scholarship is given to a graduate with the highest aggregate marks in his/her 4th year of high school and continuing on to post-secondary education. The student must also be a member or an ex-service member, child or grandchild of a member or ex-service member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Steven Navratil Memorial Award / This $200 award is given to a graduating student entering into a post-secondary program in Engineering, Teaching or Aviation.
Ted Martin Music Bursary / This $200 bursary is awarded to a graduating student who has made a significant contribution to the music program at BBSS.
Trades Post-Secondary Education Bursary / This bursary is awarded to an outstanding Cooperative Education student who is planning on continuing in the skilled trades sector.
Tasie O’Flaherty Memorial Bursary / This $50 bursary will be awarded to a graduating student who has been a member of the Keewatin Figure Skating Club, who has displayed a commitment to figure skating, the club and the community.
Turn Around Award / This award is given, in general, to students who have “turned it around” in terms of success in the classroom, behaviour or both. The students who receive this award have been nominated by their teachers. No application was required.
Ukrainian Literary Society Bursary / This $500 bursary is given to a grade 12 graduate who is planning to enter university. At least one parent must be a current member of the Ukrainian Literary Society. (In case of a tie, the award is divided.)
WassayGezhig Na NahnDah We Igamig Bursary / This $200 bursary is awarded to a graduating student that best exemplifies a holistic healthy lifestyle reflecting the traditional way of Anishinaabe life and is entering post-secondary studies. This student will strive to live a traditional life using the seven teachings as a guide – wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth.
Wenonah Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star Bursary / This $400 bursary is given to a student who is graduating and proceeding to a post-secondary institution and preferably is affiliated with a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Women's Place Kenora/Women's Resource Centre Bursary / This $250 Gillian Nilson Bursary is awarded to a female graduate enrolling in a women’s studies or midwifery program at a college or university.

Ontario Power Generation Secondary School Student Achievement Award / These two $250 awards are given to graduating students with a specific focus in either: Engineering/Electronics, Science, Information Technology, Environment, Mathematics, Physics or Business. Strong oral and written communication skills, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and/or community volunteerism were criteria for this award.
Ontario Principals' Council Student Leadership Award / This award is given by the Principal for outstanding student leadership and school involvement.
OPSEU Local 702 Bursary / This $250 bursary will be awarded to a graduate who is pursuing post-secondary education. Preference will be given to a student whose parent/guardian is a member of OPSEU Local 702.
Order of the Royal Purple #268 Bursary / This $500 bursary is presented to a grade 12 graduate, with a good academic record, who is furthering his/her education at a college or university in the field of medicine with preference to students entering audiology or speech therapy and affiliated with the Order of the Royal Purple #268.
Pequonga Lodge - Lorne Johnston Memorial Bursary / This $500 bursary is awarded to a deserving grade 12 graduate continuing his/her studies at a community college or university.
Piston Ring Service Award / This award is presented to a grade 12 graduate with high standing in Transportation Technology. An application was not required to be considered for this award.
Rotary Award of Academic Excellence & Service Above Self Scholarship / This $500 award is given to a graduate who has attained high academic achievement and will be attending a post-secondary institution. No application was required.
Royal Canadian Legion Keewatin Branch 13 Bursary / This $300 bursary is awarded to a grade 12 graduate who is a resident of the Keewatin area and is affiliated with a member or person eligible for membership in Branch #13 Keewatin Legion or Auxiliary.
Royal Canadian Legion Keewatin Branch 13 Ladies Auxiliary Bursary / This $300 bursary is awarded to a graduate who is a resident of the Keewatin area and is the son/daughter or direct descendant of a Branch 13 member or of a person who is eligible for membership in Branch 13 Keewatin Legion or Auxiliary.
Royal Canadian Legion Kenora Branch 12 Bursary / These five $500 bursaries are given to graduating students continuing their studies at a college or university. All students who apply are considered for this bursary regardless of Legion affiliation.
Royal Canadian Legion Kenora Branch 12 Ladies Auxiliary Bursary / These two $500 bursaries are awarded to grade 12 graduates proceeding to higher education. All students may apply, however, in some cases preference is given to family members of members of participating Legion Associations.

“CLASS OF 2012“
PRESENTATION INFORMATION
Kenora-Keewatin Medical Society Scholarship / These $500 scholarships are granted to BBSS graduates upon registration in an appropriate undergraduate program that upon completion, would qualify the students for admission into the study of medicine.
Kyle Koch Alumni Bursary / This $500 bursary is awarded to a student athlete who has demonstrated high academic standing and leadership. Financial need may be a consideration.
Lake of the Woods Girls Hockey Association Bursary / This bursary is given to a student who has been registered with the Lake of the Woods Girls Hockey association for a minimum of 7 years and be registered in their final 3 years of midget.
Lake of the Woods Minor Hockey and Grant Sherred Bursary / These two $500 bursaries are awarded to students who have been active in Lake of the Woods Minor Hockey as either a referee or a player. Academics, athletic achievement and leadership are some of the factors considered for this bursary.
Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award / This award is given to a graduating student for exemplary community contribution or outstanding achievement through voluntary activity.
Marie Amande Lacombe Award / This $500 award is presented to a graduating student who has attained a high academic standing and is pursuing further education in a post-secondary institution.
Mei Wong Memorial Bursary / This $1000 bursary will be awarded to a grade 12 graduate pursuing post secondary education. Preference will be given to female applicants but male applicants will also be considered. The applicant must show that they have made an exemplary contribution to the community In the hospitality field and is an industrious hard worker.
Meyers Norris Penny LLP Scholarship / This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating student continuing on to a Manitoba or Ontario post-secondary institution. The successful student must have attained a minimum 75% overall average throughout the school year and must show interest in a career as an accountant or in a business-related field.
Jackie Heatherington Memorial Bursary / This $500 bursary is awarded to a graduate who is planning to further their post-secondary education in the social services field. This bursary is given to a student who has demonstrated compassion for others, community involvement and leadership qualities like Jackie Heatherington did.
Jacquie Sherrington Health Care Bursary / This $500 bursary is presented in memory of Jacquie Sherrington to a student who is a secondary school graduate from her hometown of Kenora pursuing post-secondary education in any health care field.
JalmarKetonen Memorial Scholarship / These $200 scholarships are given to a female and a male graduate who have attained the highest marks in a minimum of 6 credits over the last two semesters and will be furthering their education at a post-secondary institute. The students must also have been a resident of the Township of Jaffrey & Mellick for the entire school year.
Keewatin-Patricia District School Board Scholarship / These four $500 scholarships are awarded to grade 12 graduates continuing their studies in education, the arts, a technical field, an apprenticeship, or law enforcement.
Keewatin-Patricia Elementary Teachers' Association Scholarship / This $500 scholarship is awarded to the son or daughter of an active member of the Keewatin-Patricia Elementary Teachers’Association. The student must be continuing their education and is required to obtain a 75% average after leaving Beaver Brae Secondary School.
KEMA Band Bursary / This $200 bursary is awarded to a student who has contributed significantly to music at school. The student plans to teach and/or perform music.
Kenora Agricultural Society Bursary / This $250 bursary is awarded to a grade 12 graduate going on to a post-secondary institution in any field related to agriculture. The recipient is expected to donate 3-4 hours of volunteer time at the annual Agricultural Fair in August.
Kenora Lake of the Woods Lions Club Bursary / These two $500 bursaries are awarded to students going on to university or college. An affiliation with a Lions Club member and active involvement in school activities and/or the community were preferred factors.
Kenora Kinsmen Club Bursary / Up to three $500 bursaries are awarded to graduating students who are going on to further their education at a university, college or technical institute. The bursary is given to students who show significant contribution to the school and the community. The involvement must reflect the motto “To serve the community’s greatest need.”
Kenora Metis Council Bursary / This bursary is awarded to a Metis student who is graduating school in the Kenora area. In order to be considered, this student must be active in their community.
Kenora Trappers Council in Memory of John Longe Bursary / A $250 bursary is awarded to a graduating student whose parent belongs to the Kenora Trappers Council or to a student who is furthering studies in any Natural Resource field such as Biology, Forestry, or Fish and Wildlife.
