The Lifeline CSWT courses are delivered, in Queensland, through the 10 Lifeline Australia designated sites operated by Unitingcare Community.

Step 1

Check the closing date for your preferred centre/course. In some centres applications are required ahead of the Group Interview/Information Session. This will be clearly outlined on the website and the Course Dates page.

Step 2

Complete both Part A (this document) & Part BVolunteer management (VM-2).

Step 3

Send in both Part A & B, by either:

  • Email

Or

  • Post to your local centre

Step 4

Your application will be reviewed by a selection panel and you will be advised of the next step.

Step 5

Offers (of a place on the course) will be made within 10 working days following the application closing date.

Note: Course fees are shown on your centreCourse Dates page or on the website. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required after an offer is made to confirm your place. Full payment is required 5 working days prior to course commencement.

Supporting evidence for Lifeline Crisis Supporter Workplace TrainingApplication

Please address the following areas providing example where possible. Confine your responses to approximately one paragraph.

  1. Your Background. Please describe any experience, as a volunteer, in paid employment or courses attended that may support you application.

  1. Describe your willingness to respond to all callers in an empathic and non-judgemental manner. If possible give an example of a time when your opinions or values have clashed with those of another person. Describe how you have responded.
  1. Describe a time when you have demonstrated ability to manage stress and stressful situations and what strategies you used to manage this.
  1. Provide an example of a personal bias you hold (positive or negative).
  1. What experience do you have (if any) with suicide? In a personal or professional setting.
  1. Describe any previous experience you’ve had of working cooperatively in a team/small group environment.
  1. Phase 1 of the Lifeline Crisis Supporter Workplace Training includes approx. 20 hour of e-learning, it is important that you have access to the internet and have reasonable computer literacy (support is provided around e-learning site navigation). Describe your ability to handle this component of the training.
  1. Describe your willingness to commit to and undertake regular volunteer crisis supporter shifts.

Once Phase 2 of the training is completed volunteers are asked to work approximately 1 x 4 hour shift per fortnight. Shifts vary throughout the week and weekend with emphasis on the periods of high call demand (week-days 4am-10pm and weekends). No overnight shifts are required.
