This is the story of a small town guy from rural southern Illinois pursuing his dreams as a police officer in Memphis, Tennessee. He was shot twice during a traffic stop and taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition. He rode the ambulance thinking that politeness was the key to Heaven. Jeff was a police officer, chaplain and friend to all. Jeff was an advocate for those in law enforcement that suffered from Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Jeff passed away in 2014 and this scholarship is our way of celebrating Jeff’s life as well as his love for all those in emergency services and therapy assistance to those involved in the career that he truly loved. In 2014 prior to his death Jeff wrote and published a book (My Second Chance) about his life and his struggles with PTSD. We know that Jeff would be over the moon about this scholarship, and we provide it not only as a memorial, but in a celebration of our dear loved one Jeff.
