FUEL PRICE REPORT JANUARY 2007

Crude oil prices have fallen over the last month from $63 and now trade at around $53 a barrel. This price was last seen in March 2005.

Unleaded prices have fallen by 0.7p per litre to 87.5ppl. Diesel prices have also decreased, by 1.6ppl to 92.1ppl. The price difference between Unleaded and Diesel has fallen to 4.6ppl.

Northern Ireland recorded the highest price for Unleaded at 88.2ppl with Wales and the South West next at 87.9ppl. The North West continues to record the lowest price at 87.0.ppl, followed by the North at 87.2ppl. Northern Ireland also recorded the highest Diesel prices at 93.4ppl, followed by Wales at 92.7ppl. The North West again has the cheapest Diesel at 91.3ppl.

Supermarket prices for Unleaded have also fallen over the last four weeks to 85.8ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for Unleaded has increased to 1.7ppl (last month the difference was 1.2ppl).

Overseas prices have also generally reduced in line with crude oil prices. The UK has the 3rd highest Unleaded price in Europe.
