PALMER NUSTAD
RENNER – Palmer Nustad, 79, Renner, died Friday in the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Nustad was born Sept. 27, 1908, in Morefield. He grew up on the family farm and was graduated from Baltic High School in 1926. he farmed until entering the U. S. Army in 1943. He married Alice Christenson Floren on April 25, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, Wash. He was employed with Zip Feed Mills in Sioux Falls and coached the first women’s softball team in Renner.
Mr. Nustad was a member of the Baltic American Legion and the Renner Fire Department.
His wife died Jan. 27, 1986.
Survivors include three sons: Charles and Dale, both of Sioux Falls; and Roger, Ojai, Calif.; a daughter, Rita Ysbrand, Carrollton, Texas; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Peter, Sioux Falls.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Renner Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the East Nidaros Cemetery, rural Baltic.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in the Minnehaha Funeral Home Baltic.
Prayers will be <illegible> Monday in the funeral home.

MEMORIAL CARD
Palmer was born to parents Anna and Magnus Nustad on September 27, 1908, at Morefield and grew to manhood there on the family farm. He graduated from Baltic High School in 1926. He farmed until his induction into the United States Army in 1943, and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He married Alice Christenson Floren on April 25, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Alice died January 27, 1986.
Palmer held various jobs, the last being with Zip Feed Mills. He was severely injured in an accident there on October 17, 1963, and was confined to a wheelchair ever since. For the past eight years he was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center.
He loved baseball and was an avid Renner Monarch fan as well as the coach of the first women 5 softball team in Renner in 1935. He was a member of the Joseph A. T. Moe American Legion Post #175 in Baltic and belonged to the Renner Fire Department.
Palmer died Friday, September 2, 1988, at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital.
Grateful for having shared his life are three sons, Charles and Dale, Sioux Falls, and Roger, Ojai, California; a daughter, Rita Ysbrand, Carrollton, Texas; eight grandchildren; a brother, Peter Nustad, Sioux Falls; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marit, and eleven brothers and sisters.
