  1. Super Hero Camp

Join Bricks 4 Kidz for a week building Super Heroes with LEGO bricks. Explore all the caped crusaders and discover their super powers. Create a fantasy world and protect it against all the evil arch enemies with custom contraptions made with LEGO bricks. At the end of the week all SUPER HERO CAMPERS will go home with a custom mini figure!

  1. Stop Motion Movie Making Camp

Light, camera, LEGO action! Use LEGO bricks to tell YOUR story, complete with music, special effects and all your favorite LEGO mini-figure characters! In this unique and creative camp, students will plan, script, stage, shoot, and produce their own mini-movie using Stop Motion Animation. Working as a team, students will use LEGO components to build the set and props, then shoot their movie using a camera. There will be a screening on the last day of camp for friends and family!!

  1. “World of Amusement” Camp

This camp takes you on a thrilling adventure building amusement- park- themed models. Spend time visiting the Wizard World by building your favorite wizard and his magical owl. Build and give your despicable yellow movie characters a thrilling roller coaster ride! Get your amusement park ticket stamped as you turn games, food, rides, and attractions into exciting model builds.! All this and more awaits at Bricks 4 Kidz World of Amusement Camp!

What: Students will learn how to prep, bake, and flat-ice a cake. Simple decorations,(balloons, piping, and streamers will be taught.)

Digital Arts– Danielle Scicluna*

Who: 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th graders

What: Using your smartphone (optional) or internet images, take these photos to the next level in Adobe Photoshop! Have fun, while learning everything you need to know in digital editing by adding layers of digital artistry and special effects to your photos!

Who: Grades 4-7

What: Explore the world of engineering and technology. Build and test prop cars, foam gliders, soda bottle rockets, ping-pong ball launchers and make T-shirts all while being exposed to the use of computers, computer numerical controlled (CNC) devices, and 3D printers! Bring lunch!!

Felt Garland Project – Kelly Wade*

Who: Ages 8 and up

What: Two-day workshop where students will be taught the basics for sewing and design, to create a garland that hangs or is created into a wreath pattern for hanging.

Gingerbread Beach House Making – Kelly Wade and Rachel Jessen*

Who: Ages 8 and up

What: A two-day course making, from scratch, gingerbread houses fit for summer!

Intro To Computer Illustration – Sally Hunter*

Who: Grades 7-10

What: Students will be introduced to working in CMYK mode using the computer to make cartoons, draw with the pen tool, use the colors and effects for cool postcards.

Loom Knitting – Kelly Wade*

Who: Ages 8 and up

What: Students will learn how to loom knit a scarf, hat, or sock with yarn. This is a beginner’s course where the student will pick up the basics to loom knitting that can be transferred to future projects.

Sewing Camp- Susana Ash*

Who: Ages 8 – 18

What: Learn to sew, or advance your skills, withfashion designer, Susana Ash. Make basic tops and accessories such as tanks, camis, pillows and bags. Materials provided/ or bring your own. Some sewing machines will be provided to be shared, however, if you have your own, it is recommended to bring it. The difficulty of the project will be based on each person’s skill level.

  1. Potions, Powders & Polymers – July 10-13

Choose from Full Day (8:00 am – 2:30pm) or Half Day (8:00am – 11:00pm OR 11:30 – 2:30)

What: HALF DAY CAMP- Is it science or magic? You’ll find out! Inour half day camp, you’ll create erupting foam monsters, conduct amazing air pressure experiments, dig for hidden treasures, investigate the science of illusions and build spectroscopes to view the spectrum of different types of light.(see next page)

FULL DAY CAMP – We’ll reveal many mysteries of science as we investigate creepy creatures, learn troll tricks, capture a rainbow in a bottle, make instant snow, mix up glowing slime and conduct lab tests on mystery substances.

  1. Mix It Up-Wacky World of Science – July 24 - 27

Choose from Full Day (8:00am- 2:30pm) or Half Day (8:00am – 11:00am OR 11:30am- 2:30 pm)

What: We’ve taken our after-school programs from 2016-17 and turned them into a fun-filled

week-long camp! Each day we’ll explore a different topic: Kitchen Chemistry, Roc Docs (Geology), Forensics, Space and Product Testing.

  1. Take a Dive – July 31 – August 3

Choose from Full Day (8:00am- 2:30pm) or Half Day (8:00am – 11:00am OR 11:30am- 2:30 pm)

What: Dive into the world of marine biology and oceanography!

Half Day: You’ll dissect a real shark, participate in a fisherman’s challenge, examine the anatomy of a fish and learn the ancient technique of qyotaku or “fish rubbing”, learn to survive at sea with a homemade solar still, create a kelp forest and make your own submarine.

Full Day:Come face-to-face with some unique sea creatures! You’ll complete a squid dissection, bring to life genuine Triassic Triops, conduct a whale adaptations lab, and examine many weird wonders that live under the sea!

Shakespeare – AnnMarie Polleck*

Who: 9th,10th, 11th, 12th graders

What: 5 Week camp!! Do you have a naturally talented performer in your family who’s looking for an amazing theatrical summer camp experience? Well, we’ve got the perfect program for them! These students will participate in creative scene and monologue work, culminating in a fabulous abridged performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. This program is taught by Ivy League, Brown University MFA professionals who offer the highest caliber classical performance training. Students will be immersed in voice, movement, and acting, while also exploring some of Shakespeare’s theater history, stage combat and costuming.

Shining Knights Chess Club - Cindy Cardi*

What: Knights, captures, action!!

Whether you are new to the game, learning to push pawns for the first time, or have played in numerous tournaments, and want to sharpen your skills, come to a Shining Knights Chess Camp! We have trained numerous state champions and national trophy winners. We have trained even more kids to enjoy the game that they can spend hours playing with friends and family. So whether you want to win games in your living roomagainst your parents or win tournaments in other states, come join us and learn how to play chess or play better chess!

Each camper receives a Shining Knights T-shirt and a tournament-style chess set.

Zenbroidery Sampler Project – Kelly Wade*

Who: Ages 8 and up

What: Students with some experience will learn how to create, design and hand embroider their own zenbroidery. They will then make this into a one-of-a-kind wall hanging, where the coloring is only done with embroidery string.
