Sunday March 24th The HAILWOOD MEMORIAL RUN

will start from the old Norton Factory at Bracebridge Street, Aston on at 11.45 am. So plenty of
time to have a lay in and then come along! here will be an unofficial start from Mike's former motorcycle shop in Erdington, beside Spaghetti Junction, on the Tyburn Road, if you wish to take part in that you should arrive there at 11.15am.

On arrival at the village of Tanworth in Arden there will be a short service at the church and a dedication at the grave. The service will follow similar lines of last year and will be conducted by ex-biker, the Reverend Tim Harmer! The Ducati Owners Club will again be giving their full support to the event. We also will have the support of the Norton Owners Club, Birmingham Branch and the The Triumph Owners Meriden Branch, The BSA Birmingham Branch & The Tamworth and District Motorcycle Club.
Eating arrangements will be much different. We will not be going to the National Motorcycle Museum afterwards. (Which is a great pity because I will miss seeing gravy surreptitiously poured over everyone!). The local pub in Tanworth, The Bell, is thankfully under new management. It is also being refurbished and great things are being expected in the trough department. There are also several other excellent food establishments in the area. More later, or email me.
Please remember this is a memorial event to celebrate the life of the world's greatest motorcycle racer AND his daughter. Please give it the publicity and attention it deserves, I thank you.

SUNDAY JULY 21st. Birmingham Testers Run

The Birmingham Testers Run is an annual event to maintain the profile of the factory sites that gave us the motorcycles we love to cherish and remember. Its unfortunate that some enthusiasts tend to completely forget
the importance that these sites played in our industrial heritage and history. Since I began this event I have been amazed by some of the comments from club chairmen and branch secretaries, one of whom said. "What is the point having an event from a set of derelict buildings?" If I started the event from a local public house I suppose that would be more appropriate for these 'enthusiasts'!
Well all of you genuine motorcycle enthusiasts can rest assured that THE BIRMINGHAM TESTERS RUN will never start from a pub, although we are more than happy to end at one! We have been busy behind the scenes with the BTR. For next year it was decided to give each factory start to the local owners club. This was
received well by most OCs except Royal Enfield and Ariel. The Ariel start will be handled by Brain Ball from The Tamworth & District Classic Motorcycle Club. The RE start will be handled by a few RE members who
unfortunately are not members of the local branch.
Negotiations are well in hand to make next year's destination THE DEAN FOREST RAILWAY in the Forest of Dean. At the moment we are still looking at the final routing and dates. We tried to avoid date clashes next year by giving each local group a choice of dates. The date we have come up with is SUNDAY JULY 21st. If anybody feels there will be a local clash please tell me immediately, as the date has to be confirmed in the first week in January.
