Female voice:OK, so this is the court. It’s intimidating, so it’s important you see it empty so you can get a feel for it. This is where the barristers stand. They are lawyers that argue cases in court. They wear wigs and they wear robes. There’s a defence barrister and a prosecution barrier. The prosecution barrister doesn’t work for you, they work for the state, but they present the evidence to the jury, based on what you told the police. This is where the jury sit. The jury are 12 randomly-selected people. They hear all the evidence and they agree on a verdict, and they have to decide beyond all reasonable doubt. They have to be certain that an offence was committed.

This where the judge sits. They oversee everything, and they’re in charge of the courtroom. They may not say very much, but they’ll be listening, and they make sure that you’re not asked inappropriate questions.

This is where you’ll be standing on the day. There are screens in place that look different in different courtrooms, but mean that you won’t see him … the defendant. They will be tissues and water if you need.

OK, so jury are in place, charges have been read out, prosecution barrister you met earlier has done their opening speech, and now they’re just finishing watching your video statement they saw a couple of days ago.

Male voice:They’re ready for you.
