Dear Wellness enthusiast

Thank you for your interest in our specialized sports massage course. This intensive course prepares you for a fascinating career in the sports industry. You’ll be able to lead sportspeople to the top with your professional care and intervention. We’d like to introduce this course to you.

The sports massage course focuses on practice. First, however, we’ll teach you the anatomy and physiology of the human body in order to fully understand how the body works. You’ll be taught everything there is to know about oxygen uptake and transport with performances, respiratory regulation and energy supply. For example, you’ll learn how to treat sportspeople with joint or bone trauma. Your goal will be the structural revival of the sports performance.

After you’ve been submerged in theory, you’ll learn about various massage techniques, which are in this case:

§  Intermittent pressure

Using this massage technique, you’ll get an idea of the tissue you’ll have to treat.

§  Effleurages

These brushes over the skin have a relaxing effect. Furthermore, this massage technique aims at blood circulation in the muscles, human waste transport and to remove scales from the skin.

§  Petrissages

Petrissages or kneading has both a relaxing and a stimulating effect. It enhances blood circulation and normalises the pulse.

§  Frictions

Frictions treat periosteum conditions, the transition from the muscles to the tendons, ligaments and muscles. All of your fingers are put to good use with this massage technique!

§  Tapotement

The technique of tapotement is used with the evacuation of sputum. Using short touches of the skin at a high pace you’ll get the hyperaemic effect of the tissue.

§  Vibration

By moving the muscles up and down at a high pace, you’ll release sportspeople’s tension an ease their pain.

§  Shaking

Shaking the arms and legs will mobilise the muscles and release tension. This massage technique consists of the complete amplitude of the muscle.

Sports treatment focus on information and coaching of the sportspeople. That’s why manual lymph drainage, pressure point massage and Cyriax therapy are part of this interesting training. The help the sportspeople not only physically, but also mentally, you’ll learn some relaxation techniques. We’ll also discuss taping and bandaging techniques in this course. Your massage techniques will help prevent or cure injuries and allow sportspeople to recover more quickly from their performances.

The sports massage course will take 12 classes of 3 hours each. Classes take place once a week. You’ll practice the various techniques on your fellow students. This way you can take turns in learning and relaxing.

On 8 February 2012 a course starts. Classes are taught in English and take place from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm. The next classes take place on: 8, 15, 22 and 29 February, 7, 14, 21 and 28 March, 4, 11, 18 an 25 April. The training will take place at Mechelsesteenweg 73, 2018 Antwerp, massagelokaal (massage room, 2nd floor).

Our beautiful school building is the perfect setting for this training. The best accommodation and hygienic study environment ensure a relaxed atmosphere in which you can get to grips with the massage techniques. The calm of the building rubs off on you. Under these ideal circumstances you can fully focus on the course contents and, at the same time, enjoy the wonderful massages. Our teachers are the best, due to years of experience in their own business.

General conditions of the Beauty school

The Beauty school organises professional trainings when it comes to beauty, wellness and fashion. The student declares to be of age at the time of the enrolment. By filling in the enrolment form or by sending the electronic enrolment form on the website, the student declares to agree to the general conditions. Also when the student pays an advance or the entire enrolment fee, he/she declares to agree to the general conditions. These conditions apply to all courses, workshops, internships, events and other activities organised by the non-profit organisation Beauty school. Enrolments are limited in a course.

An enrolment is only final after payment of the course fee or the determined advance to account number 001-5361411-06. Whoever pays first, enters the course first; no matter who sent the enrolment forms first. After payment, the student receives a confirmation letter or confirmation email. If a student cannot participate in the course, he/she can postpone participation to the next start-up date (if the course isn’t fully booked). This has to be done by means of registered post to the non-profit organisation Beauty school. If the participation is annulled or postponed 4 weeks or earlier before the start of the course that he/she enrolled in, an administrative fee of 25% of the total enrolment fee will be charged. If the participation is annulled or postponed after 4 weeks before the start of the course, a fee of 50% of the total enrolment fee will be charged. The total enrolment fee consists of the normal price of the course, without keeping into account any temporary discounts or local promotions. In other words, temporary discounts do not require an equal reduction of the compensation. If we do not receive a registered letter saying that he/she annuls the participation before the start of the course, the student owes the entire enrolment fee.

Some courses can be paid in instalments. The advance then has to be paid at the enrolment. The first instalment has to be paid before the start of the first class. Afterwards, every other instalment is paid monthly until the entire enrolment fee is paid. If the payment is late or if there is no payment, the student automatically and legally owes a compensation of 10% calculated on the amount left to be paid, with a minimum of 50 Euros. Furthermore, the student automatically, legally and without proof of default owes an interest of 1 percent per each month that has started, calculated on the amount left to be paid. Deregistration or stopping the course, for whatever (medical) reason, does not discharge the student of his/her obligation to pay the full amount of the enrolment fee.

Any discounts cannot be combined, with the exceptions of subsidies, being ‘opleidingscheques’ and ‘KMO-portefeuille’. The discounts need to be deducted before the start of the first class. Afterwards, no refunds are possible. If the fee is paid in instalments, any discounts can only be deducted when paying the advance.
