A. Mrs. Wagner reported on the School Messenger sent to all parents and students with an attached survey about Webber. She reported that parents feel that the Webber staff wants the students of Webber to do well and the staff is friendly and respectful. The parents would like to see students behaving more kindly to one another and improve the amount of parking available at school. The staff survey showed that the staff love teaching, they believe every child can learn, and enjoy collaboration. The staff would like to be able to add more technology to their teaching.
B. The School Improvement Team will – 1. Continue to follow the Olweus lessons to help students act more friendly with one another, 2. Continue to send out timely communication, 3. Make more staff present at a.m. drop-off, p.m. pick-up, and fast pass, 4. Partner with PTO for additional resources.
C. M-Step is complete. It went well and all make-ups are done. Testing was shorter than last year and it was completed in the computer lab on laptops. Mrs. Mucci, Mrs. Peruski, Mrs. Soule, and Mrs. Dittrich made an “Inside Out” themed video for the students to watch about M-Step.
D. Wacky Wednesday is Sports Day for this week. It will be the last for the year. We will donate the money collected to the Orion/Oxford Fish organization. Last month’s total of $94 was raised and donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Lake Orion. Thus far, we have donated to the Orion/Oxford Fish, Mother’s Wish, and The Humane Society.

IV. Secretary’s Report – Danielle Boeneman
A. April’s PTO minutes were approved by Kristen Kehrer and seconded by Destiny Narloch.
B. Danielle informed parents about the $500 scholarship offered to exiting seniors. We received 4 applicants. It was discussed to add the information to next spring’s newsletter so the word can get out to the community for those who attended Webber and might be interested in applying.
C. Discussion of getting volunteers for Webber Whirl. It was mentioned that Paint Creek require parents to volunteer if their student attends a similar event there.
D. Danielle thanked Char and Laura for hitting Staff Appreciation “out of the park” and the PTO is very grateful for their time, energy, and dedication to the Webber staff.
E. Bummer Summer event info was shared and Angie George filled in with misc. info.
1. Due to the price increase of pizza, we will be having the band boosters coming in to sell concessions. Everything will be concession prices and the money will go to the music program.
2. Sno-Cones need parent volunteers. A signupgenius will go out for 2 people per 20 minute shifts
3. Mrs. Mucci volunteered to contact the LOFD to see if a truck could be available in the bus loop 30 minutes prior to “entertain” the students prior to the event.
4. $3,000 + $1,000 (student council) = $4,000 total budget for Bummer Summer
5. 800 people showed up last year.
V. Treasurer’s Report – Angie George
A. Angie shared the budget was balanced.
B. Angie shared that we needed to discuss what to do with the leftover money from the current year. Topics/ideas included:
1. Roll over the money for next year’s math program (Mrs. Wagner was talking with the tech dept. to possibly purchase laptops for the math program).
2. PTO bought 9 new folding tables so Webber does not have to borrow tables from other schools for events like: Discovery Fair, Mom’s Night Out, & Bummer Summer.
3. Walkie-Talkies need new batteries and it was voted 5 yay and 0 nays to pay $1200/year to rent new walkie-talkie. The money covered maintenance and batteries. It also assured us we’d get new ones when needed.
4. Popcorn machine cannot be repaired due to out-of-date parts. A new one needs to be purchased.
5. Review what PTO pays for: dragon folders ($600 every 2 years), ½ of upper el planners each year, ½ of Scholastic News each year before the school year ends.
6. Rolling over any extra money for next year was approved 4 yays and 0 nays.
VI. New Business – Danielle Boeneman
A. Voting took place for next year’s PTO Vice-President and Treasurer. The two year positions will be filled by Destiny Narloch and Anna Hall. Both candidates where voted in unanimously.
B. Mrs. Soule and Mrs. Dittrich will be doing one more Box Top collection before the year ends. Parents asked for flyers to be sent home to attach the Box Tops too.
VII. Adjourn Meeting
A. Kristen Kehrer motioned to adjourn the meeting. Destiny Narloch seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:05pm.
Addendum:
Birgit McQuiston held a brief Q and A session after the current PTO meeting was adjourned.
Topics included:
1. Kristen Kehrer asked about the outsourcing signs posted in neighborhoods. Birgit said that transportation was not being outsourced at this time and the State Dept. has to give the district approval for outsourcing food service.
2. Plante Moran’s work on looking at effective and logical cost cutting strategies is going well. The school board will hear more at tomorrow’s 5/24/16 meeting. They had already been at Webber taking pictures of the building. Plante Moran is still on the July/August timeline to have recommendations ready for the board.
3. There should be another community forum in the future (hopefully)
4. The agenda for the board meeting will goes as usual unless otherwise noted in the Board packet the members have yet to receive.
