BEINBORN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

At Viterbo University

La Crosse, Wisconsin

BSN Program

History:

Dick and Annie Beinborn graduated from Viterbo in 1976 and 1978 respectively. They chose to create a scholarship at Viterbo in gratitude for the valuable education they received. This education was not only in their professional fields, but in the form of ethical and enriching experiences that prepared them for their life and opportunities they never dreamed of experiencing. They chose to create a scholarship for nursing students because of the Beinborn family relationships to the medical field. Dick’s brothers Dean and Douglas Beinborn were students in the Viterbo Nursing Program and graduated in 1975 and 1987 respectively. Annie (Sendelbach) Beinborn ’78 and Julie (Drahota) Beinborn ’87 also graduated from Viterbo and Mary (Sendelbach) Dudley, Annie’s sister, was a nursing graduate from Viterbo in 1976.

The Beinborns are grateful for their excellent preparation in the Viterbo Nursing Program and for the respect they were given at a time when the nursing program was considered a non-traditional career pathway for males. Most noteworthy, Dick and Annie would like to express their deepest gratitude to their parents, William and Orpha Beinborn and William and Marion Sendelbach, for making their college educations possible. It is the wish of the benefactor that scholarship money will provide opportunities for nursing students, such as Dean, Dick, and Doug. They feel Viterbo paved the pathway for other males to pursue a nursing career. Dick and Annie are proud that their sons, Charles and Benedict, have also chosen the nursing career.

Dick Beinborn is currently a free lance anesthetist for rural hospitals in southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. Annie is currently the coordinator for sponsorship of children at the Casa Hogar Juan Pablo II orphanage in Lurin-Lima, Peru. Both Dick and Annie have participated in medical missions in Peru.
