Sales, Marketing and Distribution Branch

The Sales, Marketing and Distribution Branch is responsible for managing the selling, promotion and delivery of finished goods. Marketing focuses on designing, developing and promoting the Mint’s official collector coin (numismatic) programs, and brands of the Royal Australian Mint. It is a commercially focused profit driven business within the Mint. This Branch also delivers a Gallery as a tourist attraction complemented by educational programs for touring groups.

Marketing Communications and Research Section

This Section provides communications and research support to the Mint, especially in the field of marketing communications. It performs all major event planning relating to product launches, corporate activities, and gallery exhibitions and carries out media and ministerial liaison, internal and external communications, including Internet/Intranet administration services. It also provides graphic and web design services to meet corporate and product development needs as well as develops product promotional programs through advertising and campaigns.

Individual role within the Team

The Direct Marketing Projects Officer is responsible for the Management of Mint products and event advertising as well as direct marketing projects which includes the Mint Issue publication. This position works with the Marketing Communications and Research Team and the Sales Team to these projects.

Under limited direction, the Direct Marketing Projects Officer will:

·  Provide support to the Branch through the development and management of direct marketing and advertising strategies, programs and campaigns

·  Manage advertising spend, design and placement for all numismatic products and Mint-related events

·  Coordinate the preparation and implementation of communications strategies and materials such as digital media technologies that support the role and goals of the numismatic business line and corporate goals of the Mint

·  Apply marketing research and sales information to the development of marketing activities as well as utilise CRM to increase sales and awareness

·  Assist in the development of product descriptor test and promotional message including performing a proofreading role throughout the process

·  Assist with strategic planning business case development including contract negotiation and performance analysis

·  Contribute to development improvements in efficiency, profitability and customer service

·  Manage the preparation and distribution of direct marketing promotional materials including Mint Issue

·  Manage internal and external customer/client/supplier relationships

·  Provide administrative support as required including switchboard duties

·  Degree in Journalism/Advertising/Marketing and/or 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role is essential.

·  Experience in online and print advertisement creation, design and placement, including management of advertising budget.

·  Copywriting skills for a variety of mediums and target markets.

·  Experience in managing the delivery of publications and direct marketing projects including electronic newsletters.

·  Interest and experience in emerging technologies/audio-visual tools including videography and digital media.
