INFORMATION TO CONSIDER WHEN TRYING OUT:

·  Rising Juniors and Seniors will be considered for the Varsity Cheerleading squad.

Rising Freshmen and Sophomores will be considered for the JV Cheerleading squad.

Some rising Freshmen and Sophomores will also be eligible for placement on the Varsity squad.

·  Cheering is a MAJOR time and financial commitment. We would like both parents and squad members to know what to expect in these two areas before making the commitment.

TIME

·  Monacan squads cheer for both football and basketball games and pep rallies, which means our season lasts through March. Jobs and other activities/events (including but not limited to All-Stars Squads!!!) shall not interfere with Monacan Cheerleading functions. In addition, the competition squad will be comprised of Varsity members and select JV members. This is an additional time commitment during the Fall and Winter seasons which will require more evenings and some weekends.

·  You will be expected to attend or to participate in all events assigned by the coaches including, but not limited to: fundraising (selling ads, etc.), summer camp, practices (mandatory beginning in August), games (including District, Regional, and State Tournament games), and hostess events (where you represent Monacan).

COST

·  The following is an estimated list of expenses that will be incurred through the year:

Uniform deposit $100.00 to be paid each cheerleaders 1st year and refunded at the end of their Senior year if uniforms are continuously returned in good condition.

Camp tuition $275 – 300

*Please note: These prices are estimates only. Once team rosters have been finalized, uniform details have been finalized, and sales tax / shipping amounts have been figured, then accurate prices will be distributed to each team member. This is only meant to give an idea of what is financially expected of each member. *Items that have previously been purchased MAY not need to be purchased again*

·  The Cheer Squad is responsible for selling ads for the Fall Football Program. All squad members MUST sell $300 worth of Ads. If a squad member is unable to get enough sponsorship from outside sources, the squad member/parent MAY be responsible for placing an ad for that amount.
