COMMUNITY MANAGER

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: c£27,500

Locations:East Midlands, East London, North West (Mersey), South East (Berks, Bucks, Oxfordshire), Yorkshire and Humberside (see below for additional location info)

Overview

The Community Manager will be responsible for raising awareness and promoting A4e, its services and the ‘Work Programme’ within the local community to a broad range of stakeholders and potential service users or customers. Your efforts will help to drive voluntary interest, engagement and referrals to A4e and the Work Programme services, as well as establish positive working relationships with relevant voluntary, community and third sector organisations, statutory partners, Jobcentre Plus and other key stakeholders.

What you will be doing

  • Driving voluntary referrals on to the Work Programme by implementing a strategic community engagement strategy.
  • Developing and delivering promotional and self referral activities such as targeted marketing campaigns, “drop ins” and surgery sessions and small focused events.
  • Identifying and reporting on local service user or customer needs to support local service enhancement.
  • Developing and implementing initiatives to address local customer needs in partnership with service users or customers, the Area Manager and key community stakeholders.
  • Proactively engaging with residents, service users or customers and communities with traditionally poor levels of engagement in employment and employment-related services.
  • Working with local voluntary, community and third sector organisations to break down barriers to accessing provision for individuals and local community organisations.
  • Maintaining and developing positive relationships with local voluntary, community, third sector and mainstream organisations and referral agencies in order to raise awareness of A4e and drive the number of referrals to A4e programmes.
  • Sourcing local community delivery partners that will complement A4e delivery, and ensure the needs of all service users or customers in all locations can be met.
  • Developing and maintaining a positive local relationship with local Jobcentre Plus.

What you will need

  • Impact & Influence: Able to demonstrate excellent rapport building and communication skills with the ability to adapt own approach to suit a diverse range of people. Must have experience of influencing others effectively and able to overcome objections positively, whilst remaining engaging and approachable
  • Customer Focus: Proven experience of dealing with a diverse range of people. Proven ability to manage and diffuse difficult situations. Understanding the importance of confidentiality with the ability to develop trusting relationships through dependability and honesty. Experience gained from an Information, Advice and Guidance background and or qualification would be beneficial but not essential
  • Personal Organisation: An extremely conscientious and well organised approach to work load. Experience of working under own initiative and the ability to plan effectively in order to pre-empt potential issues and counteract effectively. Experience of successfully managing a fluid customer caseload and ongoing employer relationships in order to achieve targets.
  • Driving Performance: Driven to succeed and set high personal standards and goals. A passion to motivate and lead by example. Ability to sell the benefits and overcome barriers to employment with both the customer and the employer. Experience gained from a sales, business development or recruitment background is essential for success in this role
  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Able to demonstrate the drive and tenacity to succeed and the ability to achieve and exceed demanding targets. Understands how personal contribution affects the wider business mission of Improving People’s Lives. Confident in all areas of numeracy, literacy and IT skills as required for the role.

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate A4e’s ‘DNA’ – Trusted, Passionate, Driven, Brave, Friendly and Caring and be flexible to work 37.5 hours a week between the hours of 8am until 8pm, Monday to Friday and maybe some weekends when necessary
