Old Business:
Food for Thought: Corey Langston expressed gratitude for the overall success of Food for Thought this past summer. He asked members to commit to a week or even a day to help with the lunches in Puckett Park in the future.
Random Acts of Kindness: Chris Kinsey handed out assignments for Random Acts of Kindness to the people who signed up. Another email will be sent out with an opportunity to fill out the survey for people who may still be interested but missed the initial email.
New Business:
Give Back to ABAC: Dr. Deidre Martin, Director of Advancement/Development spoke about the importance of Give Back to ABAC. Last year, a participation rate of 72% with an amount of $70,000 was given in the area of scholarships for students, Staff Forum, etc. Envelopes will be given out in the next week or two. A report of finances to Staff Forum specifically will be given at a later date.
Tom Turkey: A discussion of Tom Turkey was initiated with a summary of the event. It will take place in November and is a total online auction in which items or services are donated and then bid upon. The money raised helps to fund the staff awards, scholarships, events on campus, charities, etc. Nancy was recommended as being chair but will need help from other departments. If interested in helping, contact Nancy Anthony.
Christmas Luncheon: Friday, December 15, 2017
ABAC Hosting the USG Statewide Staff Council Conference: Conference will be held in October 19-20, 2018. Jessica Gandy, Kim Baldwin, Nancy Anthony, and Gloria Sulkowski will be attending. Let Nancy know if you willing to help serve on a committee. She will send an email with specific needs after the conference.
Refreshments: The topic of having refreshments was discussed among the staff forum members. It was decided that during meetings with special guests or panels, refreshments will be served. Other meetings, without guests, will have only waters available.
Staff Forum Website: Minutes from meetings and all general information will be uploaded on website. The definition and purpose of staff forum was discussed - “to be a sounding board” and to encourage greater staff participation, support, and enhance overall mission of college.
Family Weekend: September 29-30, 2017. Bernice Hughes asked that support be made to help monetarily for the supper. A motion was carried to give the same amount that was given last year.

Any recommendations/suggestions will be appreciated. Any member of the staff forum can be contacted with additional details.
Staff Forum Scholarship: The definition of the scholarship needed updating. A committee was formed to update the scholarship to better assist the students, as no one applied for the scholarship. Tracy Dyal, Sue Mastrario, and Bridgett Mobley will update the terms of the scholarship to bring before staff forum.
