Post Title: Membership and Communications Officer
Salary: NJC scale 6 £25,520 incl. ILW pro rata
Hours: 21hours
Aim of Job:To support the delivery of NAFIS membership services and the Families First Award
Responsible to: Quality Award Manager
Location: London based
Background:
The National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS) is a registered charity that supports and promotes Family Information Services (FIS) in Great Britain. NAFIS represents a network of quality FIS across England, Wales & Scotland and have developed a set of competence based standards called the Families First Standards. The standards are being used by local authorities nationally to evidence that they are meeting the requirements of the Information Duty, which forms part of the Childcare Act 2006.
Key Tasks:
- To maintain and develop all aspects of the NAFIS website
- To develop and maintain the NAFIS membership and Families First databases in line with NAFIS Customer Care Standards and contractual requirements
- To ensure regular maintenance and monitoring of the day to day running and security features of the NAFIS IT network and IT equipment
- To provide regular information updates and examples of good practice to members electronically
- To support the Quality Award Manager with the management, maintenance and processing of electronic Families First portfolios
- To assist in the promotion of the Families First Award
- To assist in the regular monitoring of and reporting on NAFIS and Families First targets
- To assist in co-ordinating Families First events and seminars
- To contribute to the development of a communications strategy
Additionally the Post holder will:
- Perform all duties in line with NAFIS’ Equal Opportunities Policy
- Perform duties in line with NAFIS’ Health and Safety Policy
- Support fundraising activities
- Support web development and IT volunteers
- Perform any other duties required to support the objectives of NAFIS
- Perform duties in line with Data Protection regulations
- Need to be able to travel within the UK occasionally
Person Specification
Qualification / Essential / DesirableEducated to a degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent transferable skills
Journalism or Marketing qualifications
Knowledge
Knowledge of Children’s and Families’ Service sector
Knowledge of information and communication systems
Knowledge of membership structures – doesn’t this relate to the old membership job or are we asking about membership organisations?
Knowledge of the media
Experience
Experience of working within the voluntary sector
Experience of working within an information service
Experience of producing publicity, promotional and written information including reports and e-bulletins
Experience of web development and or maintenance
Experience of communicating to a wide range of people by telephone and in writing
Experience in managing databases and updating records
Understanding of equalities and experience of working in a diverse working environment
