Adjusting audio and video settings 2

Adjusting audio and video settings

You can use the Settings tab in the LifeCam software to adjust the audio and video features of your LifeCam. If you have more than one webcam installed, you can also select the webcam you want to use.

Note

§  If you disconnect a LifeCam and then reconnect it, or if you connect other peripheral devices to your computer, you may have to reset your settings before your LifeCam will function correctly.

Change video settings

  1. Open the LifeCam Dashboard and then click the Settings tab.
  2. To change the photo and video resolution, select a resolution from the Resolution list.

Note

The settings for good video quality depend on factors such as the computer that you are using and the ambient lighting and sound. You may have to adjust the resolution several times before you find the best resolution for your computer.

  1. To minimize image flicker, on the Settings tab, in the Minimize image flicker section, click Flicker.

§  To turn off TrueColor + ClearFrame Technology, clear the checkbox.

Change LifeCam resolution

You can change the resolution for photos and videos that you capture with your LifeCam. Resolution is the amount of information that appears on your screen, measured in pixels. Low resolution (for example, 160 x 120 pixels) makes the image appear to be smaller. Higher resolution (for example, 320 x 240 pixels) makes your image appear to be bigger. When you set the highest photo resolution, the video resolution is automatically set.

Example of low resolution photo: (160 x 120 pixels)

Example of higher resolution photo: (320 x 240 pixels)

There are several choices for photo and video resolution, and the highest photo resolution depends on the LifeCam model. Typically, the photo resolution will be the same as the default video resolution for your webcam; however, you should use the highest resolution to capture photos if you plan to print them.

To change the LifeCam resolution

  1. Click the arrow on the right side of the LifeCam window to open the LifeCam Dashboard.
  1. Click the Settings tab.
  2. In the Select a photo and video resolution list under Resolution, click the resolution that you want.

Using multiple LifeCam webcams

If you use more than one LifeCam webcam and want to switch between them:

  1. Click the arrow on the right side of the LifeCam window to open the LifeCam Dashboard.
  1. Click the Settings tab.
  2. From the Select a Webcam list, select the webcam you want.

Note

§  If you disconnect a LifeCam and then reconnect it, or if you connect other peripheral devices to your computer, you may have to reset your settings before your LifeCam will function correctly.
