Happy New Year to everyone!!!!! I am pleased to report our Annual Christmas Party at Laurel Race Track was again a great success. I would like to thank those of you that have shared your wonderful thoughts about YCM's Christmas Party at Laurel Park with me. Those of you that have been a Commodore in the past know that the Commodore receives most of the positive and negative thoughts during his or her reign, but the individuals you need to compliment are R/C Janet Yodris, Kathy Hellner and First LadyTerri Rockelfor chairing such a great event and most of all, yourselves for being there. Thank you!!!!'
Congratulations to Gary Blankenship who was our 50/50 winner at Laurel Park for $90.00 and congratulations to Kathy Hellner for winning over $200.00 in the 9th race . . . .Way to go!!!
As we start the year, we shift our focus to legislation because the Maryland General Assembly will be in its annual session until early April. Led by Legislative Director Cheryl Blakey, we will follow bills of interest, prepare testimony, contact legislators, attend hearings, and work with public officials and other advocacy groups to ensure our member voices are heard. As always, we will work with our regional advocacy group, CBCYA, as well as groups like the Maryland Marine Trades Associationto form the strongest possible team on behalf of our member clubs.
This time of year is also a great time to plan for the upcoming boating season starting with our Annual Fleet Captains Meeting and Dinner at Red Eye Yacht Club on Sunday, January 29, 2012. See attached flyer for additional information.
We are now working on our Annual Ship's Log, this year led by R/C Janet Yodris. This publication is a yearbook by, for and about you, our members. It is chock full of information and pictures put together with the average member in mind. We have a general format to follow and some basic information to be included, but each club is otherwise encouraged to do their page their way. We were very pleased with the "Wow" factor of the2011 SHIP'S LOG and member feedback was tremendous. Please give R/C JANET YODRIS your full support to build on that momentum and make our 2012 SHIPS LOG something we all can enjoy and be proud of.
Please let us know about how YCM can work with your club or organization representatives to make this the best boating season ever.
GO RAVENS!!!!!
