Explanation of costs-

Airfare- You will be responsible for purchasing your own airfare. You will need to be sure book a flight that arrives Wednesday, May 5 by noon (although the earlier the better) at Heathrow International Airport in London. Once you have booked your flight, please present Chaplain Leigh with a copy of your ticket. An average flight costs $1,000 round trip.

Traveling within the UK- We will travel together primarily using the national rail and Tube system. These costs will primarily be paid for by Reinhardt funds.

Lodging- We will be travelling around the United Kingdom during our 7 day tour. Our lodging will vary depending on our location. We will either be staying with a host family, at a local church, or at a hotel. These costs will primarily be paid for by Reinhardt funds.

Meals- We will be eating most of our meals together. Reinhardt will try and cover as many meals as possible, but not all meals will be covered. Please bring extra money for meals (approx. $250 for the week). Ultimately the cost of meals will depend on the number of people going on the trip.

* Remember the exchange rate makes everything almost double when converting dollars to pounds.

Insurance- You will need to have medical insurance during your stay in the UK. You may also want to consider traveler’s insurance. Costs range from $50 to $100 for plans.

Helpful resources include: Insuremytrip.com or statravel.com

Sightseeing- We will be doing some sightseeing in England and Scotland. Please plan on bringing $100 for tours and entrance fees. This may vary depending on group preferences.

Spending Money- You will want to bring extra money to spend on souvenirs, gifts, and other activities not covered above. The amount depends on your budget.

* Remember the exchange rate makes everything almost double when converting dollars to pounds.

Passport- You will need to have a current passport when travelling to the UK. Please do this right away. The process takes up to 4 to 6 weeks. The cost for a passport is approximately $125. Visit, http://travel.state.gov/passport/ for more information. The nearest passport office is the Canton Post Office 2400 Riverstone Blvd. 770-720-8164.

Communication- Chaplain Leigh will have an international cell phone for the group to use for the duration of the UK trip. She will make that number available to necessary family members.

Option to Extend Travel

Students have the option to extend their travel beyond the official Reinhardt trip. You may want to continue to travel in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and/or mainland Europe. Since you are purchasing your own airfare, you choose how long you stay and your departure city. If you are interested in extending your travel, please let Chaplain Leigh know so that she can connect you with other students who desire the same.
