POSITION TITLE: Residential Appraiser
SALARY INFORMATION: Based upon experience and education
LOCATION: Property Appraiser’s Office in Ft Walton Beach, FL
and/or Crestview.
DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the appraisal of residential property for the purpose of calculating tax assessments including the analysis of data collected to estimate the value of residential property in Okaloosa County.
DUTIES:
Locating, identifying, and collecting data on residential properties necessary to produce and accurate
property value roll.
Duties are performed under the supervision of the Supervisor, Residential Department who reviews performance for adherence to established policies and the achievement of desired results.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must have a minimum of an AA degree or equivalent. It is desirable, but not mandatory, to have experience or courses in accounting or finance, real property appraisal, and mathematics. Ability to learn modern principles of real property appraisal; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public at all times. This position works in a drug-free and smoke-free environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position is subject to exposure to adverse weather conditions, construction sites, and extreme temperatures. Applicant must be able to climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain and be able to lift 20-30 pounds.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon an acceptable and verifiable driver’s license and driving history.
Final Candidate must not engage in any outside programming work or consulting, engage in any real estate activities such as, but not limited to, buying, selling, acting as broker for others and performing appraisal work, or selling OCPA computerized database information or computer systems for personal gain while employed by the Okaloosa County Property Appraiser
FINAL CANDIDATE SELECTED FOR POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A DRUG SCREENING AND A THOROUGH EMPLOYMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY INVESTIGATION.
TRAINING:
All appraisers go through our in-house training program as well as attend formal courses required to become State Certified Florida Evaluators (CFE).
