Birthright International Appoints New U.S.A. National Director
Birthright International Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Brittney Mellema from Sioux Falls, South Dakota as its new U.S.A. National Director effective January 1, 2015.
Ms. Mellema brings to this role a deep commitment to the philosophy of Birthright. She has led the Sioux Falls Birthright Chapter for over 12 years. In 2008, she was appointed Birthright’s Regional Consultant for North & South Dakota. In her new role she will oversee 236 chapters across the United States. She is married to Terry and they have two boys, Micah 12 and Caleb 9.
Brittney will succeed Terry Weaver who retires on December 31, 2014 after 46 years of dedicated service with Birthright, the latter 23 years as the U.S. National Director.
“I am humbled and honored”, said Brittney, “to have been selected for this position. At the same time it is with some trepidation that I follow the legacy of Terry Weaver who has led us for so many years in the U.S. and who served as a mentor for me. I am deeply committed to building on that legacy with all of our Centers across the U.S. so that together we can continue to help those troubled by an unplanned pregnancy choose life for their baby”.

In paying tribute to Terry Weaver, Louise went on to say, “We are losing an icon not only in Birthright but in the U.S. pro-life movement. No words can express my gratitude to Terry. She has been a true friend to my mother and me, a tireless advocate for the unborn, and totally committed to the Birthright Charter. We were blessed to have her wisdom and guidance for so many years.”
