ROLE DESCRIPTION

TITLE:Family Services Relief Worker

REPORTS TO:Family Services Manager

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Director of Services South West

JOB SUMMARY:To work with the Family services staff to deliver a range of support and intervention services to families visiting HMP Bristol

KEY TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To welcome visitors to the centre
  1. To give information and guidance on prison visiting procedures.
  1. To provide practical and emotional support to families and visitors
  1. To undertake all roles within the Visitors Centre such as answering phone calls and administrative tasks.
  1. Working as part of the team, develop good links with external referral services
  1. To work within the prison visits hall along side prisoners to deliver high quality refreshment service to visitors and inmates during visiting hours.
  1. To give positive attention to children and actively participate in play with children within the visits hall.
  1. To work with pact Bristol staff to develop interesting activities which will encourage visitors to come along to the visitors centre.
  1. Help maintain accurate and up to date information on referral agencies and feature agencies of the month

10. To develop effective working relationships with the prison and to promote the service.

11. Contribute to the administration and monitoring of the service as required.

12. To work in accordance with pact and prison policies, procedures and working practice agreements.

13. To undertake training as required

14. To attend regular support and supervision sessions with Families Service Manager

Hours Monday to Sunday between the hours of 9.00am

and 16.00pm. Hours to be negotiated

Training All training is provided

Expenses:Travel costs (on public transport) or mileage will be reimbursed including travel to attend training.Subsistence i.e. lunch will be provided for day shifts or training events as per the volunteer handbook
