ENG3C- SUMMATIVE ASSIGNMENT
DISABILTY RESEARCH REPORT
Task: Research and write a 3-4 page report on a physical or psychological disability.
Steps: PART A:
1. Research at least 3 sources. One MUST be from a book. (You must complete and submit a research handout for EACH source)
2. Organize your information and write a rough draft using the following headings:
a. INTRODUCTION (briefly describe the disability)
b. DESCRIPTION OF DISBILITY (signs & symptoms)
c. CURES AND TREATMENTS
d. OBSTACLES THAT THE PERSON FACES (housing, work, social, independent living, travel, child bearing & raising, legal, etc.)
e. CONCLUSION (summarize your findings and opinions on the disability)
3. Revise and edit rough draft and rewrite in a clean, good copy
4. Write the report in your own words and use quotations from the material you have researched. N.B. You must use parenthetical citations to tell where you got your facts. Follow the procedure that we study in class.
Notes:
· type your report using Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double space
· include a table of contents, bibliography and all your research notes and drafts
· REPORT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF IT DOES NOT CONTAIN PARENTHETICAL REFERENCES AND A WORKS CITED.
Part B
Oral Presentation – present highlights of findings orally to the class – do NOT read notes
- must contain a visual aspect (Powerpoint, or Prezi, - you may also
include news videos, interviews, etc.
-should be 3-5 minutes long
-should be prepared to answer questions
-should be well-prepared, with clear speaking voice, and sense of
organization

5 Effective use of In-class time (on task, focused work strategies)
