Brief paragraph to introduce yourself
Dr. Claudia Wong is Senior Instructor at the Center for Language Education. She is currently the postgraduate course coordinator, coordinating LANG5010 (Postgraduate English for Science Studies). She also serves as a member ofthe Center’s Quality Assurance Committee and Senior Instructor Committee. Prior to joining HKUST, Dr. Wong taught English for Academic and Specific courses at the University of Hong Kong to undergraduates, postgraduates as well as non-academic staff for many years.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Wong also provided academic counseling to students with special learning needs at the Center of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) at the University of Hong Kong.
Academic/Professional interests
Claudia participates in professional development activities regularly. Over the years she has presented at local and international conferences. Her current research interests include: science literacy curriculum development and pedagogy, second or foreign language teaching and learning, and teacher training. Her MPhil research project was on native language processing in the brain using the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging technique. Her PhD project focused on foreign language learning and motivation.
