Application Information
The Elizabeth Woodworth Memorial Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit, financial need and the thoughtfulness of the essays. Student's applying for this award must meet the following criteria:
· Be enrolled in the College of Health and Human Sciences or College of Liberal Arts
· Be a first generation college student
· Be enrolled as a full-time continuing or new student
· Be working towards a Bachelor's Degree
· Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
To apply for the Elizabeth Woodworth Memorial Scholarship, please submit the following:
· Completed application form.
· Two letters of recommendation using the attached recommendation form.
· Two page typed personal statement addressing the following:
o Your family background
o What perseverance and persistence mean to you and your family
· Four-six page essay, double-spaced, answering the question below. Essay must include at least three references, please include in-text citation and a work cited page in either MLA or APA format.
o How does President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address resonate with what is going on in today’s society (i.e. education, diversity, government, class, innovation, etc.)?
Scholarship recipients will be responsible for volunteering 15 hours each semester.
This will be recorded through the office of El Centro.
Deadline: Friday, May 16th, 2014 at 5pm
A scholarship of $1000-$1500 will be awarded and you will be notified via email requesting to visit El Centro to sign documents in August 2014.
