BACKSTAGE HELPER INFORMATION

**PLEASE READ ENTIRE SHEET**

*Arrive to the cafeteria at 6:30pm on TUES and WED June 27th and June 28th.

*Find the table which will have a table card that has your class time you will be helping with. Make sure you are with the correct class. There will be estimate # of students in that class listed, make sure there are enough chairs there for everyone. There are usually stacks of chairs in the cafeteria.

*Some classes have a lot of help, some just enough, some not enough. I know all of you will do the best you can.

*Bathroom locations: there is one bathroom right by the gym that has at least 5 stalls. I prefer all of you to use that one. There is also one right next to the stage door, it has 2 stalls, but it’s a long walk and would prefer you to not go there, only if you have to.

*For younger classes, you may want to bring some games in or coloring books to keep them busy, some snacks/drinks. I suggest CLEAR LIQUIDS, we’ve seen fruit punch and soda stains on costumes over the years and it’s not a good idea.

*Students (especially younger students) may get signed out early with Security. The female guardian/parent may come back to get them and that is OK if they signed them out with Security. HOWEVER, for ex if there is a class of 8 students, and there is 1 student left to the end, the volunteers must stay and cannot leave. You volunteered to help the entire night.

*I suggest when the kids are being called to line up that they DO NOT hold hands. Whether in Ballet shoes or Tap shoes, the kids will fall down/pulled down by accident and hurt themselves, especially w/Tap shoes so be very aware of that.

*I do ask that children DO NOT come out for their final bow w/flowers. It’s a lot harder to keep them in their lines, when they are holding this big bouquet. Again, we can only try, many people do what they want and don’t follow the rules. I am trying to just keep everyone as SAFE as possible. Every year though, kids wind up bringing out flowers but I would prefer not.

*It gets extremely noisy in the Cafeteria. To keep the show moving, please listen to the young lady helping who will be calling up the dances to line up. Know when your class dance/dances are so you know it will be coming up. It will make things so much easier. THIS IS THE HARDEST PART OF THE NIGHT, WHAT I WORRY I NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CLASSES ARE READY WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO! It will make things flow very nicely.

*Some students in some classes may have quick changes. When they are going up for their dance, they may put the costume they need to change into quickly either in the quick change room located right outside the stage, or actually behind stage to change quickly.

*You will not be permitted backstage without your badge. Put it in a safe place and do not lose it!

*For Teen classes sometimes the backstage helpers try to sneak in the front of the auditorium. That is NOT PERMITTED. You must stay with your class at all times and watch from the side of the stage like everyone else.

Thank you for volunteering. I greatly appreciate it!
