ChatCard Instructions
Congratulations on becoming a ChatCard user. These instructions are designed to familiarise you with ChatCard. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call our Customer Services desks.
Activating ChatCard
An activation form is enclosed with the ChatCards. To activate the ChatCards, fill in the 6-digit card numbers found on the reverse side of the ChatCard in the lower left corner. Please also make sure you fill in the invoice number, included with the ChatCards. Xantic will then activate these cards within three working days. Extra activation forms can be ordered via Customer Services or downloaded from our website.
Using ChatCard
1. Remove the scratch layer to reveal your ChatCard number.
2. Make sure the terminal is using Xantic (LES Burum or Station 12 with Access Code 12) and dial toll free 64#.
3. When prompted by the automatic calling system, enter your 11-digit ChatCard number.
4. The number of units remaining on your card will be confirmed.
5. When prompted, dial the full international telephone number:
Country code (without the 00)> Area code (without the 0)> Subscriber number>#
Example: for calls to Amsterdam call 31> 20> subscription number, followed by #.
6. When you have completed your call, simply hang up. Call units used will automatically be deducted from your card. During a call, a beep will sound one minute before you run out of credit.
Card chaining
ChatCard offers a card chaining facility, meaning that you can start using a new card in the middle of a conversation. Just press * after you hear the beep, indicating you are one minute away from running out of credit. Type in the new ChatCard number and then return to your conversation.
How to make sure your terminal is connected to Xantic
To find out how to set your terminal to Xantic, see the instructions in the Operator's Manual of your terminal. Find the section on how to set Land Earth Stations and select LES ID 12 (Station 12 or LES Burum).
NB: The ChatCard service is not available via Access Code 222 (LES Perth).
Tone dialling
To use ChatCards, ‘DTMF’ or tone dialing is needed so tones can be sent which indicate the PIN Code. Normally the terminal already uses DTMF dialing. If this is not the case see the instructions in the Operator's Manual of your terminal and find the section on how to set 'DTMF' or 'service dialing'.
Extra equipment
Xantic advises customers to make use of a dialer, a device which blocks calls in case no code or a wrongly abbreviated code is dialed. A list with advised dialers can be requested from the Customer Services Desk, as can a list of recommended stand-alone telephones.
Ordering more ChatCards
ChatCards can be ordered using an order form, found on the Xantic Internet site (www.xantic.net) or requested via Customer Services. Cards are available in packages of 10, each containing 500 units, and will be sent to your postal address within one week of receipt of the order form. For security reasons the cards are not activated.
