JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Digital Communications Assistant

Department:Fundraising and Communications

Reports to:Marketing and Communications Manager

Nature:35 hours a week.

Fixed contract to 30 April 2019 (with possibility of extension).

Salary: £20 - £22k per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Location:Peterborough, Head Office

Purpose of job

To support Shine in the creation and delivery of ground breaking and engaging content across the organisations digital platforms whilst maintaining our reputation for first class customer care through diligent management of online feedback and enquiries.

Duties & Key Responsibilities

Website management

Ensure website content is accurate and up-to-date by;

○Create and maintain webpages using a content management system

○Writing and editing engaging website content

○Produce content which is optimised for search engines

○Managing expiring pages, reviewing content and repairing broken links.

○Basic image editing to ensure compatibility with website standards

●Social Media

Help deliver Shine’s digital strategy, grow our audience and increase online engagement by;

○Leading on generation of content across Shine’s social media channels

○Assist with the creation of graphics / photo editing

○Assisting with social media monitoring and analysis

○Responding to enquiries submitted via social media

○Monitoring comments/topics of discussion, ensuring a response and appropriate action is taken where required

○Build and maintain internal relationships to ensure content accurately reflects all aspects of the charities work including geographically.

○Ensure brand consistency

○Support and advise staff use of social media across the organisation

Digital Marketing

Help increase the number of people accessing the Shine website by;

○Optimising Search Engine Performance

○Identifying opportunities for Pay per Click advertising campaigns

○Producing email communications to support digital marketing campaigns and providing general updates for Shine membership

○Creating and evaluating user surveys

○Manage additional online initiatives such as Shine Heritage Library

○Any other duties as required for the role

Person Specification

●Active and familiar with a variety of social media platforms

●Digital enthusiast, interested in and willing to learn new IT skills

●Organised, enthusiastic with a demonstrable interest in digital communications

Experience of:

●Using Content Management Systems to maintain websites

●Knowledge of modern SEO practice

●Working on digital communications for an organisation or campaign, either in a voluntary or paid capacity

●Experience of the following software is desirable, but not essential: Photoshop, Indesign, Hootsuite (or similar social media management tool)

Skills

●Ability to think creatively and innovatively to develop Shine’s digital offer

●Good writing skills and the ability to write in accordance with different styles

●Able to contribute creatively to social media marketing campaigns

●Able to work independently and as part of a team

●Ability to prioritise, manage and coordinate a large number of tasks with strict deadlines

●Able to use Microsoft Office and or G Suite programmes to a good standard
