INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES - MEADOW BROOK CLUB

1. Acquire skills necessary to become a First or Second Assistant Superintendent at completion of internship.

2. Perform nearly all jobs involved in the daily maintenance of a golf course.

3. Expose intern to reel and mower maintenance.

4. Expose intern to personnel management.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

Intern duties will include, but not limited to:

Walk mowing greens with Toro- Flex 21 hand greens mowers

Walk mowing tees, collars and approaches with Toro 1000 hand mowers

Mowing Fairways with Toro 5100-D fairway mowers and Toro GM-3 Triplexes

Mowing rough with a Toro 3500-D Reel or Toro 4500-D rotary rough mower

Hand Bunker raking

Hand Syringing greens, tees and fairways

Light frequent topdressing of greens and tees using Dakota 410 topdresser

Pesticide calibration and application; Toro 1100 sprayer or Toro 5100 sprayer

Herbicide application in native rough areas

Fertilizer calibration and application

Scouting for pests including weeds, diseases and insects

Irrigation repair of Rain Bird Eagle 700,750,751,900 and 950 heads

Learn the use of Rain Bird satellite and Freedom radio controllers

Golf course setup as it pertains to hole position and tee marker placement

Hazard marking

Golf course marking such as Ground Under Repair, cart control

Hopefully a small amount of playing the game of golf

Conventional core aerification of tees and fairways

Dry-Ject aerification of greens

Verticutting greens

Adjustment of height of cut and reel to bedknife adjustment on mowers

SUMMER INTERNSHIP

PositionAvailable: May 1, 2012 to September 1, 2012

Salary: $10.50/hr plus overtime. Any hours worked over 40 per week paid at $15.75/hr. Past interns have earned between $7,500 and $11,000 for internship period.

Housing Provided: Dorm style room on 3rd floor of clubhouse

Meals: Lunch is provided daily. Breakfast and dinner are internships responsibility.

Uniforms: Uniforms for work are provided to intern.

Golf Privileges: Intern may play golf with other members of staff on weekdays.

Bonus: Upon successful completion of internship, intern could earn up to two weeks base pay as a bonus. Bonus based upon, attendance, attitude and performance
